For the purposes of this mock I will say that Jalen Strong is still sitting on the board at 27 and the Jets offer us #37 and #70 to move up and select their new #1 WR after going in another direction at #6 overall.

#37- Owamagbe Odighizuwa DE UCLA- Kid is a monster, don't care what anyone says. You just aren't going to see many guys with his combination of explosive athletic ability and raw power. He will be a special player at the next level

#60- Damarious Randall CB/S AZ State- Playmaking and versatile player in the secondary. Can play right away in sub packages and be groomed into the FS of the future. A little on the small size but this is the type of versatile athlete needed in secondaries to combat spread offenses in today's nfl.

#70- Donovan Smith OT Penn State- I really like this kid could beat out Leary day 1 at LG. He's huge and powerful, yet still has good feet. Will eventually make a really good RT in the NFL.

#91- Buck Allen RB USC- Big back at 220 with good speed and quick feet. Good vision to find the hole and make 1 cut to get up the field quickly. Very good hands out of the backfield and can be relied upon is pass protection.

#124- Kenny Bell WR Nebraska- 6'1 with 4.40 speed and a 40"+ vert. Played on a non passing team or I think he'd be a much higher pick. Also has return experience.

#155- JaCorey Shepherd CB Kansas- Underrated Cb with great ball skills. Plays the ball in the air very well and never lets the WR have an easy catch. Adequate size and speed to play in the NFL and could develop into a starter down the line

#208- Reshard Cliett LB USF- Team captain and very athletic. PS player who has potential

#218- Ryan Williams QB Miami- Big Qb with a big arm. Injuries derailed his career but he's intriguing enough to take a look at.

Also
Thanks for making your trade specific vs random.

I very strongly doubt Jerry would get that type of trade value, but at least it was specific. If anything , Jerry usually gives up more than he gets on the charts. This gives him an 100 extra.
Maybe if we gave them our 4th....even then...

He was a 3-4 DE which limited him in college.

This + he was a huge impact player regardless of what the stat sheet shows. He consistently dominated college o lineman with his long arms, quick burst and power. Rod will love his motor too, he never stops moving and is always chasing the ball carrier.

It still means we are just projecting for the pros. There are very few DEs that had never had 10 sacks in college who became elite DEs. Beyond that I would rather get a guy who would help us THIS year as opposed to maybe in a few years.

Yes, I don't put much stock into college stats with the exception of fumbles. There have been players with 22 sacks in college that never made a 53 man roster.

Playing DE in Marinelli's scheme is not that complicated. The good thing in terms of rookies on DL is that the rotation usually gives them a chance to contribute without much pressure. It's drastically different than playing OL or CB as a rookie.

I liked that he did not take OO in the first, but he instead got OO and Donovan Smith with the 27th pick.
Though I'm not sure I like Smith as much as he does, to me, that maximizing a draft position.

Owa could, may, and probably would start Day 1 at LDE if we drafted him

Over Hardy, DLaw and Mincey... I don't see it happening. DLaw is posed for a great year. Hardy is one of the best DEs in the league. And Mincey is just getting over a 6 sack year (something rookies hardly every do).

Hardy is going to be suspended for at least 2 games,I can see OO starting game 1.

Hardy is going to play the right side, and while I wouldn't rule it out, Lawrence probably wont be playing the left side. If Mincey can beat out a first round pick, then that player is already a bust

It's not a matter of being better than someone, it is a matter of DEs not really being pro ready, especially in terms of pass rushing. Most rookie pass rushers don't have that many sacks (Ware probably being the rare exception of the elite pass rushers today).
