It's not a matter of being better than someone, it is a matter of DEs not really being pro ready, especially in terms of pass rushing. Most rookie pass rushers don't have that many sacks (Ware probably being the rare exception of the elite pass rushers today).
Mincey doesnt have many sacks either.

Hate OO at 27, in fact the only pick I didn't hate was at 60

Well it's a good thing I didn't take Owa at 27 then right?

And what do you "hate" about Smith, Buck, Bell, and Shepherd? I'd love to hear your insight

Watch the game tape and stop looking at the stat sheet

Show me the stat sheet of an elite NFL DE who didn't have either 10 sacks or 20 TFL or both at least 1 year in college. Everything I have read on him suggests he needs a lot of work on his pass rush, the main thing we might need help with. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/owamagbe-odighizuwa?id=2552275 that is especially harsh on him. I have seen some game film and I didn't see what all the fuss is about, he looks like he will be an average LDE at this level.

Don't really like him at 37 either.
I exaggerate a bit. smith is okay and I def think we need a t or g fairly early, I'm hoping Williams is available there. I don't think Buck is a bell ow back and won't add much to what we have already at rb. I'm okay with bell, hate that we will likely have to take him that early to get him though. Don't know anything about the other guy

He is super quick twitch and powerful and plays with violence.

I'm curious which plays in this game people don't like.

I wish they had the Oregon game up. Honestly he didn't look that bad that game, but he didn't look like an elite first round talent either... which considering the USC tackles sucked last year I really want to see from him. He is a high risk (with his hips and lack of college production) possibly high reward guy... If it comes down to him or Gordon (or at 37 him or Coleman) I will take the RB any day of the week.

Disruption is production. Marinelli is probably drooling over O-Diggy's tape.

You don't have to look like Ware or Freeney around the edge to be a good DE.

For the purposes of this mock I will say that Jalen Strong is still sitting on the board at 27 and the Jets offer us #37 and #70 to move up and select their new #1 WR after going in another direction at #6 overall.

#37- Owamagbe Odighizuwa DE UCLA- Kid is a monster, don't care what anyone says. You just aren't going to see many guys with his combination of explosive athletic ability and raw power. He will be a special player at the next level

#60- Damarious Randall CB/S AZ State- Playmaking and versatile player in the secondary. Can play right away in sub packages and be groomed into the FS of the future. A little on the small size but this is the type of versatile athlete needed in secondaries to combat spread offenses in today's nfl.

#70- Donovan Smith OT Penn State- I really like this kid could beat out Leary day 1 at LG. He's huge and powerful, yet still has good feet. Will eventually make a really good RT in the NFL.

#91- Buck Allen RB USC- Big back at 220 with good speed and quick feet. Good vision to find the hole and make 1 cut to get up the field quickly. Very good hands out of the backfield and can be relied upon is pass protection.

#124- Kenny Bell WR Nebraska- 6'1 with 4.40 speed and a 40"+ vert. Played on a non passing team or I think he'd be a much higher pick. Also has return experience.

#155- JaCorey Shepherd CB Kansas- Underrated Cb with great ball skills. Plays the ball in the air very well and never lets the WR have an easy catch. Adequate size and speed to play in the NFL and could develop into a starter down the line

#208- Reshard Cliett LB USF- Team captain and very athletic. PS player who has potential

#218- Ryan Williams QB Miami- Big Qb with a big arm. Injuries derailed his career but he's intriguing enough to take a look at.

Personally I like the trade down idea to get another 3rd rounder.

I am leaning toward Eli Harold at #37 rather than OO from UCLA. I like Eli's explosiveness more than OO. Eli is raw but with Hardy around he can learn and jus come in on passing downs. You can never have too many pass rushers.

That's nice....REAL nice because as btcutter posted, the trade down is smart. I am picky with grading mocks and I"d give this one an A-. (only reason it's a 'minus' is due to Williams in the 7th. Don't like him...there could be a diamond in the rough that has more potential like Marcus Rush (DE/OLB) from Michigan State. Rush can play ST's and has a very high motor.

It's too bad for Rush that he didn't play in a 3-4 scheme as an OLB. I think he would get more looks at that position in the NFL.

Love the trade down, the pick at 37 and 124. The rest of it-meh for me...not a Buck Allen fan and rather have Daryl Williams than Smith.

I can't find the 2014 Oregon game. I thought I had it on the DVR, but it's gone. You can see some other games by searching for Eric Kendricks.

It could help that the USC game was a month and a half after the Oregon game. He was returning from the hip surgery in 2013.

If the talent is equal, you have to go pass rusher over RB. The Franchise Tag for RBs was about 10M. The Tag for DEs for almost 15M. In general, your pick has more value if you get a quality DE than if you get a quality RB.
