Richardson is said to be on the chopping block with the Jets, may have know need to trade for him. Plus I doubt Romo wants to go to New York and if he doesn't then am sure that Jerry will hold to Tony's wishes.

It was a no-brainer for the Washington Commanders not to meet Cousins' contract demands last offseason and let him play the 2016 season on his $20 million non-exclusive franchise tag. The Commanders had reservations about paying Cousins as an above-average starter, given his limited track record. Washington's reported best offer was $16 million per year with $24 million in guarantees. Although it wouldn't have been accepted, the Commanders weren't willing to raise their offer to match the four-year, $72 million deal that Osweiler received in FA from the Texans . Osweiler got $37 million fully guaranteed in the contract and they are sick about that contract after the performance he put up in 2016 IMO.
It is no secret that the Skins will franchise Cousins a second time if a long-term deal can't be reached before the beginning of March. Cousins would make $24 million next season, which is 20 percent more than this year's tag. The 2017 tag would likely be the exclusive version, because the cost is expected to be practically the same as the non-exclusive one. The exclusive tag would stop Cousins from soliciting offer sheets from other desperate for QB teams.
The result of a second franchise tag is increased financial expectations. When a QB is franchised, an agent normally uses the tag amount as a baseline or guide for a long-term deal. This means that Cousins' agent wouldn't consider anything less than $24 million per year for Cousins. Taruk_Makato you are probably wondering what a third franchise tag would cost, 34.5 million is what the media is touting when I google(see New Orleans Drew Brees).http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/a...s-can-get-paid-and-still-help-out-the-saints/
Deciding Cousins' demands are so excessive that the Skins let him test the open market would be a perfect storm for Mike McCartney, Cousins agent. It's in Cousins' favor that there are more teams than adequate quarterbacks in the NFL(Big Ben and Carson Palmer contemplating retiring) and the 2017 quarterback draft class is worse than last year IMO. You are right it is very funny, especially if you are in the NFC east where the cowboys just landed a franchise QB in the 4th rd making about $700k average per year. We get a minimum of two more years of cheap labor at QB and will then break the bank for Dak's new contract if he maintains his level of play.
The Cousins final number will taste similar to the Joe Flacco(average QB IMO) contract deal after he won the superbowl if I had to guess.
Taruk_Makato still think Jimmy G will not command more than Brock Osweiler did in 2016?
Jimmy may make more than Brock (btw a contract the Texans immediately regretted) but that's a very far cry from setting a "new qb high."

If they franchise him ($24M) a team won't trade for him. Especially for a first. So yeah, pretty hard for that to happen but I guess people can dream when doing mocks.

why not? They can rework the deal. They can designate him and work out a trade with another team.

Dreaming? Matt Cassell was franchised by NE and was traded to KC, KC franchised Jared Allen then traded him to the Vikings.

Seems like you need to do some research on the topic

Why not? The Jets have a def the WRs a decent OL if they were to draft Fournette they would contend in that AFCE. Again i think its a long shot but i think it would be Dallas' best option

I have. Cassell had a stellar year and yielded only a 2nd rounder but cousins will command the 12th pick? I just don't see it, not for Cousins. It's your mock and you can play any trade scenario you wish. I won't take up anymore space on this when the rest of the mock and info is stellar. Overall well done and good luck.

Teams get desperate for QBs. The Skins could pay part of the money and ask for a 1st or not pay any of it and probably get a 2nd.

The Eagles ate 10M when they got a 1st and 4th for Sam Bradford.

I agree. But wasn't the Bradford trade after the draft and during training camp? I just dont see a team, especially CLE (rebuilding) making a desperate move for a QB before the draft, that's all. MIN did it thinking they were a QB away from a title run if I remember correctly.

No, it would not make much sense for Cleveland; although, at least they would know they're getting a QB that is not a bust like all the ones they've drafted.

For a one year wonder it will be shockingly high with Jimmy G after just one complete game in 2016, and no debating Cousins will raise the bar for all QB's. While Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning were willing to take less in 2015 and 2016 that esprit de corps is certainly missing in 2017.

Wouldn't understand that trade for the Commanders. Trade away a qb to then draft a wr who doesn't have anyone to throw him the ball...

The Commanders know that Cousins isn't that good and is nothing more than a product of the system.

His greatest strength is he knows how to read a defense but the guy is nowhere near close to what he will get paid.

I think they are playing it smart by trying to trade him.

Cassell wanted to go to the Chiefs
Cousins would be crazy to want to go to the Browns. Many teams would pay him QB money

Also by agreeing to be traded he would be weakening the team he goes to

No way the skins can trade him
