My initial reflections on the game . . . .

1. Simply put, we got away from the run too fast, esp. in the 1st quarter/early 2nd quarter. This was very un-BP like. I DON'T think we do this offensive gameplan again with our remaining 3 games.

2. Going back to the NYG game last week, offenses are finding success at running screen passes against us and basically are quite happy to take what our defense gives them - which is a lot of underneath stuff.

NO was killing us with screens, reverses, fake reverses, quick dump offs, etc. We need to get this fixed asap.

3. It appears that the possible chink in Romo's armor may be not letting Romo improvise and keeping him in the pocket. Not that he's bad in the pocket, but he's not as likely to make the big play.

One thing that I really liked what Brees did was simply take the "easy" 4-8 yard passes that we were giving him. I think that as Romo progresses as our QB and gains more experience, we'll see him do more of that as well.

4. NO really played almost a perfect game. Not 1 turnover that I remember, and the gameplan was perhaps the BEST I've seen against us in a long, long time.

5. I think a loss like this will really focus the team's mind and attitude on just taking 1 game at a time and trying to make the playoffs. I really think a loss like this will improve Romo's game in the long run and allow him to work on his weaknesses.

6. We really need to get the FS position fixed next year, and we desparately need to get one more pressure player along side Ware.

Anyway, while I'm disappointed, the season is not lost. We're still leading the NFC East. And I DO think we'll play a LOT better to close out the season. Sometimes a good butt-kicking is what you need to re-focus the minds and "not eat the cheese".

With our big heavy LB's, we are built more to play late in the playoffs up in Chicago or New York, 20 degrees, fresh snow, than a team comprized like New Orleans..........our 2nd set of LB's should be of the Jimmy Johnson type

Our Offense played decent.

The biggest problem tonight was the defense...

It collapsed in the 2nd QTR and quit in the 3rd QTR.

There is no excuse for it.

Heads need to roll for this.

Yup, our defense was confused he entire evening. But I think it's similar to what happened vs. the Giants last week.

We blitz, and the other team either runs a screen or dumps it off for a short gain. Then, we miss tackles, and the short gains become large gains.

We lost this game in the first half when we abandoned the run for some UNKNOWN reason. JJ was running well and I'm not just talking abou the long run. But, for whatever reason we went pass happy and had way too many 3 and outs. We should have kept N.O.'s offense off the field. Terrible game planning by the coaching staff.

Agreed. I was surprised by that as well. I really think that with our next 3 games we'll play our typical ball control offense.

This was just one of those bad, bad games we played.

The gameplan was poor, the FG kicking should have been better, the defense was esp. poor, and the offense just never got going.

Huh? All we got was 2 cheap TD's. One on a parting of the seas right out of the chute and then the dropped Int that fell in TO's pocket.

The way the offense played it didnt matter if the Defense gave up 20 or 60.

We already knew the Saints could score lots of points. They scored 30+ in 4 of the last 5. With our safety play it wasnt a reach to suspect they'd score.

The only way we could win was by us putting the pressure on their offense to keep up with us. Not vice versa.

Yes Dallas got away from the running game but I think it was the 5 passing TDs by Drew Brees that would have made it hard for any offensive team to over come. Its clear that Davis needs to be replaced at Safety as this is the second week in row I have seen him take out his own defensive players that result in big plays for other team. Its pathetic.

I simply can't understand the reason why they failed to keep giving the ball to Julius Jones... I think the Cowboys were foolish!

1. True
2. This has been happening all year. Coaches have been attacking the flats against the Cowboys since the beginning of the season. In fact, our LBs are big, as opposed to fast, making it the viable option...
3. We abandoned the run, and the Saints were dropping back on coverage all day to protect against Romo... This was our OC's fault...

how does GROZ help roy and co from taking bad angles and bad position on players i GUARANTEE you the coaches adequately prepared them for.

like the TB game the deep pass to gallowaste... tuna went over that play over and over and it happened "before the national anthem ended".

GROt he zimmer hating netwits from here who give free passes to our players please.

Seems Bill found success with approach this year with Romo and Romo was pulling it off by completing passes... up until today...

What are you talking about?

NO was sustaining drives on screen plays and dump offs... 3 TDs were by the fullback... the other 2 TDs were on Roy's coverage... one was a 40 plus screen pass to Bush that ended in a TD....

The deep TDs were set up by NO continually getting major yardage from dump offs.. you have a safety worrying about this, and this is why you have 'poor safety' play.... Roy got beat on one of them, because Henry left him for the zone, and the Defensive line have Brees all day to throw... the WR had the whole left side to work against Roy, who most likely had his mind on the screen pass... that is why he had so much room... ANY WR would have made that play against any safety...

this game was purely a coaching monstrosity by Zimmer... Zimmer puts his players in positions to fail...

Because despite an upgrade in players we continue to have the same results under zimmer

I would also like to know why we didn't have a spy on Bush.

It's no surprise we need to get our FS position fixed. Heck, we brought in Parrish, who was just cut from a poor SF team, to improve the position. And we're already about 75% done with the regular season . . . . This MUST tell you that we have serious concerns back there.

On top of that, we need a pressure player to complement Ware. I don't know if Ellis can make it back 100% after his injury. Problem is, there's isn't much we can do about it right now other than try to "mask" the problems.

except we ran Barber like once the whole first half... this was a unique day.. while we relied on Romo the past games, we never put him in such a position to fail before...
