My long held distaste for Jerry is changing

Man knows how to make money no doubt about it I have always given him that credit. As a GM never cared for most of his coaches or his draft picks. After the EE deal I view him and his son as a pair of ball less hacks and EE has them in a jar on his mantle.

I was a bit disappointed in the way Zeke got his deal when Jerry had all the leverage and only disappointed from the position that we could lose other talent because of his contract not that I begrudged him the money .

To Rockys point the Zeke deal proves Jerry wants to win now , he could have fined him drug it out and made him squirm but for once he knew he was short on time and couldnt gamble . He had to go with the sure thing or forever second guess himself that he did not do everything in his power to put the most talented team he could on the field .

I like everything about jerry except jerry the general manager. we're far better off with Stephen running the football side of things. and fortunately, based on Stephen's influence of late, jerry seems to be content with letting Stephen run things while jerry gets the cameras and microphones.

I go along with that. Jerry definitely made his mistakes as general manager but some of that has turned around with Stephen. I don't hate Jerry, never did.

Folks on this post seem to justify or tolerate mediocrity. Old Cowboys were great. New Cowboys without JJ or Parcells mediocre....that hasn’t changed overall. Sure, you can spot great moments the last 20 years but not all that good overall.

Yeah, but (other than Parcells) Andy Reid has more playoff wins than all the Cowboys coaches this century.
nobody cares about that... Rings are all that matters. You could say Reid squandered an entire career of a HOF QB with no rings, Now he is gonna get a 2nd chance with , "The Chosen One."

I agree rings are what matters most. You could then say Jerry has squandered nearly a quarter century with just 3 playoff wins.

and a quarter century of losing, and how many active owners have more rings than Jerry?

you just made my p

thanks for making my point ..... great and mediocre is so subjective. Reid has no rings, yet you call him "Great." Gruden has a ring, and his career win% certainly isnt great.... yet he was brought back because he was considered "Great."

And everyone forgets Gruden won his SB with another man's team .. and immediately destroyed it.

Without the influence and success of JJ, there are a few NFL Teams that would not be in existence today. The money Dallas has made for the NFL and passed on through revenue sharing is mid-boggling. Oh, and you'd be very surprised which teams would have disappeared financially.

Eleven owners have won SBs (some multiple) since Jerry last won a SB. Jerry has 3 rings, which is great. But his accomplishments are so long ago it makes him more of a “has been” than relevant.

Jerry is a living legend. Appreciate him and his antics while you can. I promise you, you will miss him once he's gone. The Jones family will carry on with this team as best as they can but Jerry is one in a million. Stephen will have some huge shoes to fill. He'd be wise to give Will McClay the GM job rather than carrying on like his daddy as owner/GM.
