Let say upfront that I have no problem trading down.
I am actually ok with the 3 main scenarios. 1. Moving up to get Peterson. 2. Staying put and taking say T.Smith. 3. Trading down to get extra picks.

I actually like all three scenarios because I like the idea of getting a game changing type guy in Peterson and I imagine Jerry does not just like his ability but also knows he is the type of guy that will create a lot of buzz.

I like the idea of saying, we are staying put and taking the best guy on our board and if they feel someone like T.Smith is the best guy, that also fits a need.

Of course the trade down can be a good move if they still get quality players. They could get two birds with one stone if they get a DE they like and a OT they like by moving back into the first.

Now with that said, the reason I say my luck says we are trading down.

I live in the Eastern Time Zone. This is going to be on a weeknight, I have to work the next day.

Knowing my luck I will be there watching the whole thing and dallas will trade down and take the guy they want, but I also will have the feeling they will trade back into the first so I will have to stay up the whole time.

Also with a bunch of trades, the picks seem to go slower as a team will use their whole amount of time on the phone before announcing the trade and then sometimes the next team takes a bit of time to announce the pick (not all the time).

So I expect to be up late that night, then of course discussing the picks on the board for some time and so I will be up really late, have to get up early to go to work and will be sleepy all day.

So again, my luck says that Dallas will trade down, then trade back up for a second first round pick.

I think staying put is the best thing we can do.

I like Peterson, but there is one knock I have against him (I won't mention it again, I think everyone knows what it is) and it's a big one. Big enough for me not to want spend value to trade up and get him.

If we trade down, it can still work out, but we can't trade down past 14 and even then I think we will dilute the talent we get for the value. An extra 3rd or 4th round pick just isn't worth dropping down the tier of the player you get in the first round.

Having lived most of my life on the East Coast, I feel your pain BP.

Pretty much of the same mindset. I think in terms of Peterson if a move is made it will come at the 5th or 6th pick. As for trading back I would hope it would be no higher than 17th pick at that point I would be hoping for 1 of the top OL players pet cat of mine is Gabe Carimi

a lot of us in the EST zone have to work on friday BP
Suck it up :D

I tend to agree NYC.

I don't expect the Cowobys to be drafting in the Top 10 that often so, in my opinion, when you are there you need to get Top 10 talent.

Not only do I work on Friday, my stupid alarm goes off at 5:30am. :banghead:

I'm not missing the first round. (well, if I doubt the Cowboys trade back into the first, I *could* skip the rest for the night. I will have it DVRed though.

Oh I will.

It was just the idea that with my luck, that is how it will play out.

Now with that said...if we get a good OT and a good DE with those picks and will fill two spots of need with quality players...that is great.

That is when my alarm goes off. Well it goes off at 5:45, but the clock is set 15 minutes faster as some lame thing I started doing years ago and have not changed, so in essence it is actually 5:30.

However I will watch the whole thing. Probably would even if we do not trade down so in the end it does not make much difference I guess.

Just something to rant about on a slow afternoon.

I agree with everyone either we trade up or trade down. I think there is a 25% chance we stay put. Gotta love this draft no one knows what the hell is going on!!

Getting up is the easy part, staying awake not so much. Cannot fight the kanak attack.

In-between jobs at the moment, hopefully not for long though. I didn't really think about when the day 2 coverage started but I'm willing to stay up n watch it, that when it starts for me? 2am?:laugh1:

I remember the year I was stationed in Korea.

That was a pain for Bowl season and the Superbowl.

I think we got a Monday off for the Superbowl. IIRC we got up early to catch some of the pregame stuff (with was before there were hours and hours of that) and the Superbowl on Monday morning.

Hey, no complaining.

The Draft doesn't even start until 1 a.m. across the Pond.

The big positive is that I get Friday off because of the royal wedding. :p:

(I also get a day off when the queen dies, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. :D She's one tough goose.)

Day three does. (5th, 6th, and 7th rounds)

Day two starts at about noon your time.

So are you going to make a chip butty, get a pint and say screw the royal wankers and just tune into the draft? :p:
