My Meaningless Thoughts on the Game...

- Here's what I was wondering during the game, where was big mouth Mr. Blue Suit when Miles Austin made big catch after big catch when Mr. Blue Suit kept saying that he should have this spot in the starting lineup and Roy Williams should have some other spot? Truth be told, if this isn't an indictment of his 'sources' I am not sure what is. Roy doesn't like talking to Mr. Blue Suit, so the vendetta begins. What a freaking fraud.

- Ugh, Troy...just admit it when you're wrong. Marty Booker caught the ball, turned around, took THREE steps and then got clocked on a clean-as-a-sheet tackle by Mike Jenkins. That's not a hit on a 'defenseless player.'

- Glad to have Sensabaugh back. The safeties only have 1 interception in the last 28 games, but I get the feeling that Sensy will turn that around sooner or later. Hopefully we'll someday get a real free safety beside him so we can get some more picks.

- Kind of a weird feeling watching coach Joe D. What a coach, what an inspiration. But tough to see a guy have to go thru what he did because of a faulty dome design. Love the guy as a coach, but it's sad to see what happened to him.

- Hey, no punts hit the videoboard today and the Falcons have one of the stronger legged punters in the game in Michael Koenen. Enjoy your 0-6 record Mr. Fisher along with that side of a 59-0 loss. Oh yeah, nice job of selling out your team this past week.

- Pat Watkins is starting to play like a Pat Watkins player should play. A decent enough safety that won't cripple the defense if he needs to play and a really good special teams player.

- BUEHLER!

- The Crayton situation shows EXACTLY why there needs to be more consequences for poor play and good play in the organization. He has a rough game, shoots off his mouth too much, and gets benched. Now he has to work hard to get back into the coaching staff's good graces and comes back the very next game with a punt return TD.

- I think the main point of this game was Ware vs. Abraham. Give Red credit, he was smart enough to give Flo a ton of help against Abraham and we basically kicked his arse up and down the field. The Falcons really didn't have an answer for Ware who had a terrific game, looking almost like the Ware we know and love and did it with a bad foot.

- Still some things to be concerned about this team. The 'shoot yourself in the foot' penalties and the other bonehead mistakes. Plus at the end of the game when the game was decided, it would've been nice to keep the Falcons out of the endzone. Instead, they let them cakewalk in. This team seems too much like the really smart, but lazy kid who does just enough to get by and gets the C's and B's when if they had a little more pride, discipline and sense of urgency they could easily get A's.

- Well, this was a big win and probably a must win. I'm figuring these are games we have a solid chance of winning:

Seattle
Philly (at Dallas)
Washington (twice)
Oakland

That's 5 games. Then we have @Philly, @NYG, @Green Bay, @New Orleans and San Diego. We'll probably have to go AT LEAST 10-6 to make the playoffs. So this game was an important one to win to put the team in the right direction to making the playoffs. And they actually dominated the game against a very good Falcons team. There's really no reason why the Cowboys can't do this more often if they avoid the mental mistakes and stop turning the ball over. So they did well here, but still a lot of football left.

No comment on Romo's game Yakuza?

Nice write up, but you need to give Romo some love...even if you are a non-believer. He has put together two more than solid games.

Have to second that emotion, an entire game writeup without mentioning Romo's game? Man, QB's just don't play much better.

Come on all he did was go 21 of 29 for 311 and 3 TD passes with no ints or fumble.
Anyone can do that. :lmao2:

Not only that - the stat line is great, but where do you put that amazing death-defying scramble out of two sacks and the toss to the end zone to Crayton? That's more than a TD, that's football mojo. Romo looked SO comfortable yesterday, the first time in a LONG time that I watched him and it seemed he felt in his comfort zone. Great thing to see.

Uhhh Mr. blue Suit? I'm lost.

That went over my head as well. Good write up, though.

One quibble -- going 10-6 will almost surely get you in the playoffs. Very few 10-6 teams miss the playoffs. You've got a better chance of getting in at 9-7 than you do of missing with 10-6. Even last year in a very competitive conference, Philadelphia got in at 9-6-1. But it's a quibble--I'm fine with 10 wins as the marker.

I agree and did all that moving around with 2 hands on the ball as he has been working on. Once he escaped and broke out of the pile he found his target and put it on the money. I think it is critical for Tony to keep working and trying to improve but when watching the rest of the NFL teams out there it is not hard to see we have a damn fine QB on this team who makes us a better team because of his ability

I usually *try* to make these posts about things that are not so obvious. You can go on BSPN for that.

I'm glad for Romo, played a terrific game yesterday. I thought the scramble and TD pass to Crayton showed some real growth in him as a QB. I don't think it was his fault that he almost got sacked, but it showed to me that he understood the situation that he HAD to at least get rid of the ball so the team would be at no worse than a short FG before the half. He also seems to be willing to eat sacks and keep ahold of the ball when the situation calls for it. Again, nice growth.

I also think that he works better with fast than quick WR's (Owens and now Austin) and is at his best when he can step up into the pocket rather than stand deep in back of the pocket.

I don't want to be negative in this post because there's little to be negative about yesterday's performance, but Romo still has to prove to me that he can get it done come December or we should look elsewhere for viable options. If he does do well this December, then I have the right to change my mind. I also need to admit when I'm wrong. But it's still a wait and see for right now.

Also, Mr. Blue Suit = Ed Werder, mainly because his wardrobe consists of only blue suits. He shot off his mouth that Miles wasn't playing the right starting WR position for him and Miles 'only' had 171 yards receiving yesterday. But, Mr. Blue Suit had a 'source' telling him this, so that's okay. I guess it's okay that his sources continue to be inaccurate. I understand the fact that reporters need to keep sources anonymous, but when your sources are continually wrong, then I think you should be held accountable and I would start wondering if he has sources to begin with.

There's no magical fairy dust that gets sprinkled in September through November. There's no curse or anything like that. If Romo can perform well in October, he can perform well in December. He just hasn't done so for his first three years. The idea that you would "look elsewhere" when you have the 3rd highest rated QB of all time is so mind bogglingly dumb I can't explain to myself why such intelligent posters seem to think that's really an option.

I feel ya but the Skins have to prove it this year. They would have to play outside of themselves to beat the Cowboys on the Boys worst day. They have a decent defense and all. At times they've looked very good but they have yet to play an offense with this many weapons.

The only way I see the Cowboys losing to the Skins THIS YEAR is if the Skins execute well and score at least 3 TDs. Then the Cowboys would have to be without Romo and at that point the season is lost anyway.

Their offense is ridiculously bad. Any Skins fan will tell you the same.

There's a big difference between October and December and beyond. Statistics around the league show that. Much more difficult to win on the road come December and there's that pressure factor. Up until recently, Romo has struggled heavily with protecting the ball. If you can't protect the ball reasonably well, you WILL lose come December and beyond unless you have a one of a kind great defense. Outside of the G-Men game, this is the best I've seen Romo protect the ball. Hopefully he can keep this up. But he has to prove he can keep it up and still be productive before I start believing.

What happens if he has another lousy December and beyond? Do you still want to keep going the same path?

For now, that's my stance. Prove me wrong and I'll gladly admit I was wrong. Great organizations always look for ways to improve every possible position and as 'mind boggingly dumb' as it may seem, Mr. Landry felt that way as well.

I dont get why people dont love the guy let alone like him and want him released. They take these hard stances on a whim and then refuse to deal with it and just stay the course.

Romo was fine in 07 in december, last year he along with the whole team struggled.

I will never understand this he is not good enough stuff. Its nuts.

I'm not that impressed with the Skins' defense. Look at the teams they have played and when you are playing a team with that poor of an offense, you tend to get a bit conservative in order to protect the ball because as long as you don't beat yourself, the Skins offense isn't likely to beat you either.

Carolina, Tampa, Detroit, KC and St. Louis all have putrid offenses. Even with the injuries the Eagles have, they are still waiting to take on a really good offense.

I know that the rivalry has a funny way of rearing its ugly head on both teams, but there's no reason why Dallas should not win both games barring injury.

Yakuza you strike me as more level headed than most Romo critics (mostly haters) so let me ask you.

So in light of the three Decembers that Romo has played ball which games do you find are in your opinion a valid reason to cut/trade Romo who (I know the Romo critics are going to get sick of hearing this) is the third highest rated QB in NFL history.

I would really like an answer to this question.

Coach Joe D. gets my vote as our next Head Coach. Special teams has played better than it has in years minus a couple of boneheaded fumbles by our returners.
