They likely aren't getting a 1st rounder for Romo. There was a comment from a Denver beat writer saying that he heard Denver might entertain Romo but they won't give up a lot in a trade for him.

And it's unlikely Kizer is still there in the late 20s, early 30s. He's going to end up in the Top 15, likely a target of Arizona.

the argument all yr has been this team needs to start romo because he will give dallas the best chance at a superbowl. but people dont think teams will want him for a 1st and 3rd. go figure:laugh:

Because teams view first round picks as gold. They certainly don't throw around high picks for an aging veteran who is one hit from being done for his career. I think if the Cowboys are dead set on moving him for compensation, getting a third that could be a 2nd rounder would be a big win.

Hopefully you are right but I think the only way they get a 1st rounder is if something happens like with Minnesota this year, where a team is a week or two from the season starting and they lose their starter and panic. Like say Oakland loses Carr next August 25th.

First, wouldn't it be more appropriate to ask those who think Romo isn't worth a 1st and a 3rd if they think Romo gives Dallas the best chance at a Super Bowl?

Second, it really doesn't make a difference what we think. The market is what it is. Or maybe I should ask, can you give me an example from history of a 37-year-old quarterback with two back surgeries being acquired for a 1st and a 3rd?

I have no idea what the reality is of a Romo trade, but if this scenario were to shake out and we ended up with #20 and #32 AND Barnett is there at #20, Jerry might get arrested for grand larceny. Gimme Barnett/Landry at 20/32.

Don't know about the trade, but

I don't think Barnett or Conley fall to our spots. They'd both be great picks though.

I like Armstead, not sure how well he moves though and we seem to like those kinda guys.

I would think Denver only goes for their #2 and one of their COMP picks - As this year I think you can deal the picks.

That's fine, but if Romo hast a short list is 1 or 2 teams that he wants to be traded to and Jerry's compliant, it won't make a difference if a dozen teams line up for his services.

But the value in picks would be relatively the same.

What I would like is one pick pegged to 2018 where it moves based on the team traded to position at the end of the year.

I'm having the same thoughts. I would do a conditional 5th round pick that can turn into a 3rd.

I have a hard time seeing any team giving up a #1 for what will be a 37 Y/O Romo in 2017. I hope your right but I just dont see it. I think they'd be lucky to get a 2nd.
The Vikings gave a #1 for Sam freaking Bradford.

I'd be more shocked if Tony didn't fetch a #1 than if he got 2.

No way is Denver trading for Romo, they are going to look to improve their offensive line and ride with the 2 young QBs already on the roster.

They also just signed Musgrave to be their QB coach, which in my opinion is a clear message they want to develop the guys they have vs bringing in a veteran.

I think their is a possibility for a trade its just not going to be a 1st or 2nd round pick. I could see them trading away their 3rd or 3rd round comp pick they will most likely get. Possibly a 2018 conditional pick as well.

Dallas trades Romo to Denver for DEN RD1 and RD3 picks in 2017. Denver is most likely getting 2 RD3 comp picks this yr which makes giving up that 3rd easier for them.

RD1*DEN
Derek Barnett DE Tenn
Adding another pass rusher to the stable would only make this DL better. With Lawrence's back uncertainty and Gregory's drug addiction this would be a smart pick. Mayowa is not a starter, better to come off the bench and in passrush situations.

RD1
Trade to Bears that want Kizer QB. Dallas gets 35 overall and they swap RD3 picks.

RD2*CHI
Curtis Samuel WR Ohio State
Explosive athlete who plays all over the field. Can actually replace 2 players in Lucky and Dunbar and do what they do better. Would add that vertical game, and he probably runs the best slants in college football. Nobody seems to be able to stop that route when he runs it.

RD2
Gareon Conley CB Ohio State
Plays man and zone very good. Takes chances that sometimes gets him beat but wont make the same mistake twice. Good size and gets physical. Makes plays on the ball.

RD3*CHI
Connor McDermott OT UCLA
Free is coming to his end and Green is always injured. McDermott is a huge man, and played Myles Garrett very well this yr. Could be the future at RT.

RD3*DEN
Jarron Jones DT ND
Has had some injury problems in college, but is a guy who can just get after it in the middle of the DL. Can play both spots inside. Reminds me of McClain.

RD4
Travin Dural WR LSU
A player who probably went to the wrong college because of what they do with the ball. LSU focal point is the run game. Dural is a mismatch heaven. If Dallas loses TW they are going to need guys. Butler is a UFA too. Dural has the same athletic abilit as OBJ IMO
TWO wide receivers when we can't even begin to create a pass rush? Wow. Did you actually watch the Packers game? We allowed them to pass up & down the field effortlessly. The only time we got any pressure on Rodgers was when we blitzed. Great DEFENSE wins championships. We already have a potent offense. If the first selection this year isn't a pass rusher, this team is doomed to repeat past failures. Samuel is an excellent athlete, but he's on the small side. We already have a couple of those types. We need a bigger WR, like Cooper Kupp of E. Washington, who we could probably get in the 3rd rd. If we take nothing but pass rushers & corners the first 4 rounds, I will be totally content.

Do you know that Dallas gets back a healthy Jaylon Tapper and Lawrence next yr?

You might get a 3rd for Romo. He is 37 years old,bad back, twice broken collarbone and he is emotionally sensitive. Until Dak Prescott ,Romo never really had a threat at his QB job. .I for one got sick of the coddling of Romo's feelings and he maried Jerry Jones niece solves why I was scratching my head in amazement when Jerry gave Romo that 50 million contract. Romo will retire first.than subject himself to another cities wrath when he craps it up. He won't have Uncle Jed to protect him and hold his hand.

I'm sure you meant Charles Tapper, who is more of a base end at 270 lbs. Also, Lawrence didn't show me squat this year. Sure he was suspended-his fault, & hurt, but even when he was available, he barely made an impact. We need a star stud pass rusher NOW! Screw the offense. Defenses win championships. Besides, we have a great nucleus of offensive players already. Rodgers had all day to throw when we weren't blitzing him. We need to get back to the Charles Haley, Jim Jeffcoat, Tony Tolbert, Jimmy Jones types who helped us win three Super Bowls. How about Randy White, Too Tall Jones, & Harvey Martin? You think Roger would have any rings if it hadn't been for those beasts wiping out any & all opposition?

seems like fans are the only who think this. Remember Jimmy saying teams are going to line up for Romo and said he knows of a few.

Not sure what the trade scenario's will be, but I do believe there will be teams interested. also, he is under contract for only 1 more year, so any team interested could sign a multi year deal to spread the cap hit out - 2 years probably. Or ask Dallas to do a sign and trade to bring the cap hit down.
It's doable .... and even getting say a 3rd (I would hope for better) pick in a trade would be worth it.

They can basically tear that contract up and make a new one. The only part of Romos salary next yr that is not changeable is his SB and the new team doesnt have to worry about that.
