I just can't get excited about this year. People are pinning their hopes to the draft, but realistically, what can we expect out of it? 2 starters? Possibly 3? Most drafts, we only hit on one good prospect.

How are these rookies going to be good enough to propel this team forward? Will they last the whole year w/out getting injured?

I just don't see how one draft, in which we have picks in the middle of each round, is going to fix this team. Especially when we use one of those picks on a 3rd TE or backup S

We were one win away from the post season. One Draft pick can't normally make a team a champion. Look at any draft one player can't do it alone but one player can build upon what we have.

I expect 8 - 8 or worse. Garrett has not proven he is capable of doing any better not to mention the 2 - 4 games he cost us a season with just atrocious game and clock management.

the draft should be used to create depth to go along with a few starters....if the team is healthy, then the depth isn't needed as much - we are a playoff team if we have minimal/no injuries - but the depth will help the team to stem the tide if the injury bug takes a bite out of the team yet again

Sorry I don't. I think Romo will be just fine. My concern is defense, as bad as the defense was last year a franchise low they still were in the running in week 17. I aslo know we can beat the teams in the NFC East going 5-1 last year in the division. I'm not predicting SB but I do expect the Cowboys to win the East because I know they are capable of it.

We havn't won the east since 2009. I would say it's our turn by now.

Why are you are? I'm not tryna be funny, but like one of the mods said in the sticky why come here and post in the off season of a team that you seem to dislike?

I don't dislike the team. I love the Cowboys. I am just not going to fool myself into thinking they are going to be a great team then get freaked out in the season if it does not happen. Jerry is not a good gm and you will not find many who disagree. He is a good owner. It is too bad Jerry does not have a good friend who is a good gm and could help him. I do think he learned some things from Parcells

I don't expect many good things from this team anytime soon. Even if they had lucked out and made the playoffs last year (and the year before that, etc.) they would have been "one and done" in embarrassing fashion. I'm lucky in that I'm old enough to remember the Cowboys in their glory years of the 70s and 90s, but being old enough for that, I'm sure I won't live long enough to see greatness from them ever again. That makes me sad. :(

This Thread is full of it.

After the Draft AND 11 PICKS ARE ADDED TO THE CURRENT ROSTER....most everyone, including Giummie will want the ball.

So get off your pitty pot and step up to the soap box.

The Jerry Jones situation is something you and people that dislike him are going to have to get over. He isn't gong anywhere, Not a chance in hell so why complain about it everyday. Will this team be great this year ?more than likely not but we are in a position to build a team which is going better over the past 3 seasons than its been going over the past 10. That is what we have to look forward to.

My interest has waned significantly over the past two years. I never used to miss a game and wouldn't dare turn off a game in progress. I do that often now, and have no regrets when doing so. I expect this trend to continue in 2014/2015.

Or until a new coach is brought in. I have a lot of trouble getting excited for Garrett's robot teams that continually play down to their opponent and never go for the throat

I really wished that we could have replaced him with Kelly. I think that the Eagles will make the best improvements this season because they have a real coach.

Garrett is mediocre. He was a terrible OC and now his carrying that tradition into the coaching position. I think he will be here for a few more years. By then Romo and Witten will be gone and we will be cursed with a bunch of 5-11s trying to find the right QB of the future for this team. Yeah Im bleak about this team but so what. We Cowboys fans deserve better and we have seen better. This is no longer the Cowboys that we know from the past.

I feel exactly like you do. I used to would never turn off a game but have several times the last few years. It is just too hard to watch when you know a better coach would make so much of a difference. We can only hope Garrett finally gets "it" and proves us wrong this year.

I seriously doubt we're immune to another year in the 8-8 range. This year, much depends upon our defense's ability to rebound from the worst year in this team's long history. Even with a banner year in terms of our draft's effectiveness, there are simply too many holes to fill on both sides of the ball for expectations to go through the roof. Just as I've done for 17 years now, I'll keep my emotions in check, my expectations modest and any visions of glory in mothballs until our talent level changes dramatically.

Go for the throat like they did in Detroit?
They used to "play down" to their opponents, but now I think they just lack the talent.

Kinda have the same feeling. The defense could possibly be any worse. So that's something.

Nein! Nein! I say the defense could be A LOT WORSE. That is the scary part. The part that keeps me away each night after my malt O meal and saltine crackers at bedtime.
Mein fellow Forumites, this defense might set new records for futility and that is why Romo and Garrett need to devise a game plan heavy on the ground game and short passing to advance the ball slowly and steadily down the field.

Yes, meine Kollegen Insassen, it will be an exciting season for all the wrong reasons.

The following is food for thought. I want you to read it and then not be so knee-jerk. OK, read it, digest it and try to live it:

We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men – not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate, and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular”
~ Edward R. Murrow
