Very good list. I think you could add several more to that list including Steve Smith, Sammy Watkins, Golden Tate, and you might add a couple of Commanders receivers to that list as well.

Dez can come up big at times and disappear at others. If you are objective about it there are a lot of great receivers these days in the NFL. Dez is falling down that list at an increasing rate. If he doesn't become dominant, and I mean dominant, I would make him take a pay cut or ship him off to another team for draft picks.
Might as well just ship him off, this offense dosent have room for a dominate receiver

Garrett's offense is predicated on 1 wr getting doubled almost every play so they don't mind using Dez as a decoy to run off 2 defenders. The problem with that is that a decoys numbers is never as good as the other wrs in the league that coaches scheme to get the ball to them.

I went to last weeks game and I also went to the Colts game in 2014, in that Colts game I was able to tell my son when Dez was going to get the ball it was when the safety was not over the top but that was when Romo was qbing. It got to where my son, who was 10yo would tell me when he was going to get targeted just by looking at the safety.

In this last game Dez was singled and the ball still didn't come his way, look this is not to point fingers at Prescott because he's still just a rookie but it's just certain things that Romo knows that it will take Dak time to learn.

I would believe you, if I hadn't been there when we beat the Eagles in OT this year and saw with my own eyes Dez running rampid in the secondary while dak continued to look him off and dump it down...basically looking dez down till he took a safety or linebacker with him and then immediately dump it off the beastly or Witten...I know what I saw and nolan Caroll should send his check that week to dak for not embarrassing him...so when you say that stuff I have no idea what you are talking about..btw I'm not trashing dak just saying what I saw

The Eagles noticed, too, apparently.

I'm not saying he never finds a seam in a zone. I'm saying he can't run past anyone, and his routes are so rounded and sloppy, he can't separate from man coverage.

Okay case closed dez is fitting into and offense with alot of weapon's, so fans with ridiculous expectations in stats for a WR sharing catchest with 3 other great targets and a RB thats having a MVP season. Oh and a QB that either 1. Refuses to utilize him 2. Just dosent want to yet

IMO his physical talent(especially 12-14) was top 5 for a receiver. It allowed him to do well even with less than great route running.

He was a mini Calvin Johnson, in that his size/athletic ability allowed him to win jump balls/contested catches/make freakish plays. However, as he gets older, that physical talent won't be in as good shape as he was in his early 20's, and add in injuries, he'll need to work on his craft to stick around and be touted as a #1 receiver.

I agree but I also think that is an area he can improve on (rout running) but it falls to him to put in the time and effort to improve. The great players are constantly looking to improve on any weakness they may have. Others settle on the talent they have yet will never reach full potential. I would hope this off season that Dak and Dez spend time together working on developing better timing

How many thousands of times has it been said here on CZ that the Cowboys are stupid not to play Dez in the slot.

My take is that there is probably a good reason why Dez, now 7 years into his NFL career, isn't played in the slot despite multiple offensive coordinators along the way. You need to be able to run the ENTIRE route tree from the slot and so much of what you do in the slot is not pre-dictated prior to the snap. It's pretty obvious they aren't comfortable with Dez playing any amount of substantial time in that position -- the likely reason is the coaches haven't like his decision making / route running when playing from that position.

Well reasoned and well stated. +1.

Idk about that..when a QB throws the football he dosent say to himself "man he ran a bad route" he throws to a spot and the WR gets it..and if he the QB feels like he can't hit that spot then he won't throw it hence why dez dosent get the ball often..because I believe dak won't risk hitting certain spots we. You have guys like Witten and Beasley who get open on the regular basis. Witten runs half *** routes but he just finds a gap or a soft spot and sits in it...Wrs can't normally do that on the outside because most outside routes are based on trust and timing

Dez is NOT a top 3 WR in this league, with all due respect. He might not even be top 3 in the NFC, it's close.

Dez rarely sees true man coverage. I mean who else in our receiving corps do other teams fear?

Not this year. He's seeing it all the time. Teams are stacked against Zeke and the short middle routes versus Beasley and Witten.
