I know the numbers won't indicate it, but I really believe that this was Henson's best game yet. The things that concerned me most about him are beginning to show signs of going away.
He improvised today. The deep crossing pattern completion to Zuriel Smith was after Henson had moved around a bit. The TD pass today was a check down. He showed good escapability and for the first time that I've seen him, since he went pro, he showed a feel that pressure was coming.
Threw some high velocity passes today. Still needs to work on his touch and deep throws.
Again, in my opinion, best game he has played so far.
I absolutly agree. I think this is Henson best performance since joining the Cowboys (I don't count the Ravens game, they were up by 20 plus and the post game comments from certain key players in the Raven's secondary pretty much confirmed they were thinking about the post game buffet).
I don't really care about stats when it comes to QBs developing, plus things like touch passes and down field accuracy.......driving the ball down field can get better with time in system and familiarity with personnel.
What got me during this game and kept me watching (I hate NFLE) is that Henson was playing with passion (in the past he's looked the part). After watching the 1st couple of series his coaches quote from a week or two ago popped back in my mind. His coach expressed how Henson had to start playing like he was in the back yard. How he needs to start having fun.
Henson looked like he wasn't thinking out there. He looked more fluid, natural and made instinctful plays. He made quick decisions. Even his mistakes looked delibarate and should decrease with more playing time and practice.
I think he got his swagger back (atleast a bit of it). He took some heavy shots in this game and when the pocket broke down a couple of plays later he was confident enough to turn his back on on-coming defenders, spin and buy time, albeit against inferior talent, but you've got to start somewhere.
I am happy too that he's finally decided
threaten defenses with his running ability ala Jeff Hostetler. Jeff always made a nifty run here or there that was totally unexpected and threw defense off. Its much better that standing back there in the pocket looking robotic (trying to check down).
IMHO best showing by Henson, maybe the Cologne defender mouthing off got Henson's attention.
I don't really care about stats in NFLE.........Jake Delhomme infectious moxie and gun slinging mentally carried his team to the World bowl. I hope Henson can have more games like this past Saturday.
