I watched four games that season and LA was just like he was here, no more mobile or agile. He DID NOT belong on the Pro Bowl roster.

you don't have to do much to be considered a bust around here. Heck just being drafted can make you a bust.

We have undrafted FAs who are considered busts by some here.

The reminder that Parcells took a chance on Colombo made me think about Bentley. Wonder if no team is signing him because his knee is shot, he just needs more rehab or he wants too much money. Hope the Cowboys performed due diligence on him. He's still only 29 & he'd be a big upgrade behind Gurode & Kosier.

I had read that the Lions worked him out and were interested, but Bentley turned down their one year 'prove yourself' deal.

My guess is that - like Culpepper - Bentley's waiting around for more money.

:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: Thats good guys but you have to look at this bust thing in a proper cowboy perspective.

LIKE THIS .........:omg:.........

....... .............. ...............

Anyway, if we could draft O-linemen as well as we sign free agent vets/injury projects, we have a stable full of clydesdales.

guess we'll agree to disagree then, because he looked pretty good when I saw him and their coaching staff and teammates were thrilled with him

They will have to greatly improve their run blocking this year for me to consider them "one of the best" offensive lines, but it could be that Julius Jones was the one that made them look bad,,, we will soon find out!

They looked pretty good when MBIII ran the ball. It's not their fault that Julius could be tackled by a blade of grass.

On the contrary, I think the fact Barber is the type runner he is - not down on first contact - made the line look better than they were. He took plenty of hits in the backfield and at the LOS and still managed to get something out of it.

I'd say on the whole the run blocking last year was so-so.

There was a lot of leakage all year long. A good run blocking line does not allow their backs to be dodging LBs in the backfield constantly like ours did last year.

Thats why Houck was such a huge addition. Everywhere he goes run blocking improves or is a strength of a team, including virtually his entire time with us before.

From what I saw vs San Diego the other night, the OL was much better in terms of run blocking, especially the starters. Only one meaningless preseason game, but it looked better to me.

he was a big reason Gore had such a huge yr...Norv Turner said Allen really played well that yr...I'm sure he wasnt the same Larry Allen as he was in his prime here, but he was good

LA is not a good fit for a zone-blocking scheme his last couple of years here

Julius made the line looks worse than it was and Barber made it look better than it was. I think they were probably in the bottom third of the league in terms of how well they blocked for the run and probably top 3 in pass protection.

I am looking forward to a better running game this year. Just on the basis of continuity they should be better - then you add in Houck and they should be much better.

My main concern is the depth - outside of Free, the rest seem to be underwhelming.

I agree with you on the depth issue. Berger has been getting good reviews from camp in his one-on-one drills, but he didn't show me a whole lot in the game last week. Although he certainly wasn't as bad as Marten, Procter and McQ.

The only concern with our line is the age factor, and the fact that we really don't have replacements who can play close to the level of either Flozell or Davis.
