Dallas has a glaring hole and that's the same weakness since Darren Woodson retired. Dallas just doesnt have a S who can make plays. Who can change the tide against the passing game. Byron Jones just isnt that guy, as much as the team wants him to be that guy he doesnt have the ability to do it. Heath is making mistakes made by a guy who is being asked to start for the first yr. Yes, he played his rookie yr but he was asked to fill in. Its his job and you can tell he's a little overwhelmed right now.

Taco is progressing and is starting to let the game get slower mentally. Allowing the T to show his hand and adjusting to what he's trying to do.

Hitchens injury im just in the blah mood. I think Dallas might lose something in the lateral pursuit but lets not kid ourselves he was bad vs the run. Smith and Durant will be just fine with better run defense.

Cooper Rush is going to be a starting QB in this league. Dallas is going to have some value in him next yr or the following. Expect to get some Garoppolo kind of trade talk. Those of you couch experts who doubt this teams ability to coach QBs need to look at this and open your eyes and see just how good these coaches are at developing a QB. The knock on Rush was his arm strength. The guy is perfectly placing the ball for Wrs all preseason.

This OL worry talk is a complete and utter joke in this forum. They lost experience, but they gained a whole lot of athletism. But even that they dominated a very good front 7 in the raiders. One of the best sack teams in the nfl and Dak had huge pockets with no pressure on him. Yes they had a few hiccups and some penalties but thats inexperience that will develop with game play. Its laughable fans wants to be worried about probably the most dominant unit in all of the NFL. I will point out people talking about Collins penalties, Free and Tyron were two of the most penalized Tackles in football last yr.

Damontre Moore is going to be a very good passrusher for this team. Yes he has to serve his suspension and he made a mistake before he was even signed to Dallas. They knew and took him anyways. But the team views him as a safe bet and as a change man. He has speed from the left side that nobody else on this team has and has the strength to hold up there too.

This should be the yr we see a monster in Sean Lee. Right now he's so much faster at recognizing and seeing the play than anybody on the field. He seems to even see the play and where its at even before the OL.

Anthony brown playing the right side is a smart thing, because he grabs too much to keep the yellow flags off the field on the left side.

Elliot will be on the field this whole yr. Elliot/McFadde/Morris/K Smith will be the backs on the 53.

My starting defense week 1

LDE Tyrone Crawford
3Tech Maleik Collins
1Tech Cedric Thornton
RDE Demarcus Lawrence

SAM Damien Wilson
MIKE Jaylon Smith
WILL Sean Lee

LCB Orlando Scandrick
RCB Nolan Carroll

FS Byron Jones
SS Jeff Heath

At some point Carroll and Wilson will be suspended.
Wilber replaces Wilson
Awuzie replaces Carroll

I agree that the OL is beyond solid and Mack is a monster, but Oakland was last in the league in sacks last year. Penalties not withstanding, I was very encouraged by Collin's work against the defensive MVP. Green just does not look like a guard to me.

I wonder what teams are offering New England for Jimmy G.

Took Woody three years before he began to stand out. Offenses are a lot more complicated than they were back then I'd give Jones a little more time
Not really. He had 155 tackles his second season.

We have that Safety on our team now. Xavier Woods! Free the X-Factor!
Woods is a rookie JJ Wilcox all over again. Pass, if he was better he wouldnt have lasted until the 6th round. Maybe in time but right now he's a 9 route victim all day

By that line of thinking, Dak is not ready to QB this team. He was only a 4th rounder.

This is straight from the Mickey Spagnola school of logic.

Jones is great at what he does best--man-to-man coverage. He's a solid zone safety, even. The issue fans have with him is that he's not a ballhawk. The fix to do what they did last year--move Byron to the slot on obvious passing downs--and have a better option than Wilcox or Heath to play center field. Jones is a flixible foundation piece--you can add a ballhawk safety without it threatening Jones' playing time.

99% of the time you'd be right. Dak is the exception and not the rule. Of course we all hope Woods ends up being a huge steal, but we can't count on it.

He's not getting Garoppolo talk until he doesn it in the regular season. He's no more valuable than Brett Hundley (and likely less so). He doesn't have the draft pedigree and wasn't great in college. 4 preseason games doesn't make you an NFL-level starter.

Garoppolo was getting trade talk before he did it last yr in the regular season. And before them 4 games where hes was just ok, there were teams who wanted him. NE wouldnt part with him and still wont.

Latin, I think we have more free safety's than strong. I think Kavon Frasier is developing well (2nd year) but depending on how this season plays out, Strong safety might need to be a high draft consideration.
Like others here, I think Jones is coming along better and better - but that decision is going to have to be made soon. With Woods behind him I think we are OK - for now. Not a big Heath fan, think he is serviceable but better suited to a backup roll rather than a starting strong safety.
Heath/Frasier at strong, Jones/Woods at Free. Feel better about free than strong.

Think this team needs to draft or bring in S'. Just when you think Jones is progressing he has a game like Oakland and you realize he's just a JAG

They wanted him in large part due to his initial value as a prospect. Cooper's was literally zero. Rush is much closer to Hundley than he is to Jimmy G.
