I wonder if Stephon Gilmore has any input in terms of Cook WR? They were teammates in NE.

I said after the Gilmore trade that all they needed now was a pickup of a decent to good WR and the whole draft would open up for them to just get the best players, and that is just what they did.

  • Now, if a DE is BPA at 26, grab him.
  • Bijan or Gibbs is sitting there at 26? Add that difference maker.
  • If JSN happens to fall to Dallas’ pick, you can grab the best receiver in the draft.
  • If Kincaid magically is available, add that guy and be the best Dallas has been at TE since Parcells had Dan Campbell and a young Witten. The best receiving TE since Novacek.
  • Love a corner that fell to you? Do it.
  • If the board is wiped out and Schmitz is there, then just add the best center that we’ve had since a young Frederick.
The team has done exactly what they needed to in order to have the best draft possible.

Nice job.

They’ve really done a great job and haven’t gave up the farm in picks or saddled themselves with big cap hits.I expect a few more additions though they could be lesser known guys. Be nice to pickup another guy that’s turns out like Kearse did lol

He might have the ability to be an All Pro but it’s his heart and mental make up that will prevent me from investing 2 first rounders to get him. He couldn’t even put a good or average showing at his own Pro Day! What happens when he signs a big fat contract and all the distractions that come with it in Dallas?
These are the reasons you are not paying top 3 value but two first if he drops to 6 or 7. On the field no one doubts his talent on tape. He’s going into a strong locker room with experienced mentors.

Who do you fel is the best CB in football??? Hell, who cares. Ill give you deion. Now, if you could have deion in his prime right now or Mahomes, who you taking?

It is SIMPLE. QBS take you to the promised land or they keep you from it. CBs do not.
Sauce is

Mahomes

-Very weird we got him for a 5th and 2024 6th, when the in season ask was supposedly a 1st

- Short term fix. Probably here for two years.

-WR wasnt likely at 26, but it should absolutely be on the table later if there is a guy they like. See above

- I wanted Hopkins above other WR's. Cooks does however fit #2 WR to a T

- He has been a very consistent player throughout his career. Fully healthy seasons have seen lows of 65 and highs of 90 in receptions. 75-1100 seems typical production.

-TD production is margin. Had a career high of 9 in 2015, but 5 or 6 seems the norm

This is a terrific deal

1) Cook has long had a reputation as one of the premiere speed receivers in the entire NFL.
We desperately needed more pure speed, a quick strike threat and a guy that can instantly take the top off of a defense.

2) Cook -when working with a competent QB- can be a very productive WR; he gives us vast veteran NFL game experience

3) This trade did not cost us a high drat pick,.(as it would with DHop) ... we surprisingly got Cook for a couple of mere late round picks, comp picks come every year.
and Cook does not have the ACL tear issues (and rehab-recover year) that is the one of the big concerns of OBJ.

4) I wasn't seeing WR at No. 26, . and maybe Cowboys knew they were so close on Cooks trade that they did not bother to attend OBJ workout.
i think it was likely going to be an eventually trade for DHop given agreed to compensation or a 2nd rd WR draftee.

5) i do wonder why Cooks has constantly been traded around with so many NFL teams. Just does not stay at one NFL team for very long

6) Can play outside WR role as well as inside in the slots

He is an excellent fit to our offense and adds much needed speed. He also is healthy, not coming off of an acl like OBJ.
OBJ was always all hype. His production in his most recent years was low and declining, and he's coming off of injury.

Exactly! Making this trade accomplishes many things. All of them are good. Everyone should be happy.
This trade is exactly what I have been pounding on the table for...............excellent move by the front office and Beast hardly ever says that:thumbup:

Gilmore is a good deal with potential to be a great deal similar to Robert Quinn.

Cook deal is decent but can turn into very good/great depending on how he performs.

FO recognized we need a burner not just another possession WR. I hope that why they went with Cook instead of Hopkins. Cooks speed will open up the middle and underneath routs for TE, WR and screens.

Respectfully disagree. Jalen can play DT1 or 3. Will put them over the top on Defense. Are 2 1st rounders worth a SB? Of course. After FA, this is the great position the cowboys find themselves
He's a freak. However, it would take multiple 1sts just to sniff him. Even w/ his Andretti driving, he'll go top 10 easy. Might still go top 5.

I agree. I think the trade chart shows 230 points to from 26 to 6 but I think you need to throw in a player or other compensation if he falls to 6 with Detroit because of all the QBs taken

The only question with Cooks is this is what team # 5 in his career . Hopefully he plays well keeps things professional . When he didn’t get traded last year by the deadline Houston played Dallas that week and Cooks stayed in Houston didn’t play . They could have used him .

W/ Dan Campbell firmly entrenched as the HC, don't expect the Lions to be making the type of foolish moves they have in the past. All that team needs is a D to edge a bit closer to super bowl contention. They'd most likely not trade away the 6th pick, especially for late 1sts and especially if Carter slips there. Carter and Hutchinson would make one of the best pocket disrupting combos in the NFL.

If you want Carter at 6, moving from 26, think 3 firsts.

Part of the problem as to why teams keep dumping him is because he is a #2 WR, albeit a very good #2, but is being paid as a #1. Soooooo, to make him effective, you need a #1 on the other side, and then you get to where you're simply spending too much on WRs.

They need a cornerback and OT. It’s not foolish.

You don't think it would be foolish of the Lions to trade back when they have a generational talent sitting in front of them? Why?

Don't forget, they have two 1sts and two 2nds, so it's not like they need more picks.

Your making too much sense. Stop trying to kill the trade. Every team has a price. I heard that Campbell is huge on character and red flagged him. They have OT /CB as priority.
