I'm not seeing some grand 'Master Plan' like some people are trying to convince me of, but rather inconsistancy across the board.
From the end of the season, we've gone from needing to address backup quarterback to not needing to. Suddenly, they're trying to polish up Kellen Moore because they didn't get anyone else.
We had a capped salary for running back, so we weren't going over it for Murray or Lamar Miller. But then, that goes out the window for Elliott. Even after the team had already acquired Alfred Morris.
And most recently, the team officially closes the door on Greg Hardy, after two days where they don't draft a defensive end, following news of both projected starters being suspended for the first month of the season.
And the draft so far has gone from 'biggest impact in 2016' (Elliott) to no impact in 2016 (Smith).
I don't want to hear about any 'plan' when it's obvious they don't have one.
I don't know about a "master plan", but I think it's obvious that the focus is on the next five years, rather than just "win now".
Personally love the Zeke pick. Not because it takes the pressure off of Romo, per se. He's a big boy, and can handle the pressure just fine. Zeke DOES take the pressure off a backpack, which could be huge when you take Romo's frailty into consideration.
Despite the fact that it doesn't help for the coming year, I love the Smith pick, too. Knowing Dr. Cooper did his surgery tells me that he believes he'll eventually become the player he was supposed to be prior to injury.
I'm cool with the DL picks, too. The only one I'm "iffy" about is Prescott, but we'll know before too long whether he's going to work out or not. If he doesn't, I'm hopeful we can move on and draft another QB while Romo still has tread on the tires.
Well soon see...
