Right, so an awful lot of you have seen that I would like to see Garrett sacked as head coach of this team. Seemingly lovely chap and all, but I think that time has come. However, in order to sack someone, you must have a replacement in mind, or, in my case, 5. So, who all would I like? Well, I shall try to keep it reasonable because, let's face it, we're probably not getting Coach Belichick. I'm going to go outside the organization for the most part.

1. My top pick would probably be Mike Shanahan. Yes, I know, he's been away from coaching for a while, but I think that the WCO is a very good system. I also happen to think that the WCO fits our offence really well if it were to be tried. Mike Shanahan is a staunch WCO-style coach. Obviously, the big question is, would he work for Jerry? Then again, he did work for Snyder, so it's possible.

2. David Shaw - Let's look into the college levels and use a chap that has done very well in succeeding a WCO-style coach in Jim Harbaugh. His record is 75-22, and he's got a good Bowl Game record. He's another offencive minded coach, and he seems to use a version of the WCO, which I like.

3. Gary Patterson - Let's stay within the backyard of the Cowboys, and let's go with this chap. He's heavily underrated, and I think it's high time that he gets a title that's fitting for how well he's done at the college level. Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I think his record speaks for itself. Plus, he's defencive minded which I also wouldn't mind. I'd let him choose his OC, of course, but hopefully it'd be a WCO-style coach. Plus, with our defence starting to turn a corner, a defencive minded HC might be what it needs. Maybe he can talk Norv Turner into returning as OC for us?

4. Chris Peterson - Come now, did you really think I'd pile a list of this without mentioning this chap? This chap did very well as the coach of Boise State (which is a bit of a Cowboys pipeline, isn't it?). Also, he's done very well with Washington piling up a record of 38-18 overall. Rather impressive, isn't it? This would be a chap I'd probably have top of the list but for the other three chaps of course.

5. Now for a name you lot probably haven't heard of, but one that I've come to like the look of. That chap would be Troy Calhoun. He's currently the HC of Air Force. Here's his link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_Calhoun. He's got a record of 83-61 while coaching at Air Force, where he's been since 2007. He doesn' get a lot of recognition, but he does well for being at a military school. I think he could bring some much needed discipline to this team, as well as using the WCO mentality that he learned from Mike Shanahan.

Bonus:

6. Mike Smith - Yes, yes, I know he looks like Steve Martin. However, I think he's got a very good track-record of being a defencive minded DC. Again, similar to Patterson, we could certainly use a defencive-minded DC to help get our defence to the next level. Additionally, I would hope that he would bring a WCO-minded OC.

What do you lot think? Any of these of interest to you? Anyone else that you'd like to add to the list? I look forward to what you all have to say.
3 would be my first choice..

I agree to an extent. His passing has been dreadful of late. However, maybe it's more to do with not much being open because he doesn't run.

Could be. He’s gotta do something. He looks flat footed and slow too though.

If you can’t tell my patience has run out with him lol

Works for me, but wouldn't it be great if we could get Jim Schwartz as the HC and Riley as our OC?
Not for me.

Lincoln Riley has a 5/25 contract at OK. He ain’t leaving to be a coordinator anywhere. Heck, with Jerry and Stephen around, the Cowboys head coach position is probably barely a small step up from his current job. Offensive coordinator would be a big step down.

Oh, and I'm not far behind. I've been defending him for a while, but that was dreadful. The ONLY reason I'm not bailing on him yet is because of who the coach is. I have to say things like, "Yes, he's dreadful.....but then again, he's coached by Jason Garrett."

It's interesting because other people have said that they can't see him as a HC here, but I would like him as an option at least. Not sure how he'd do at the NFL level though.
I mention Patterson since 2015 as Gary does more with less at TCU and I like his animated coaching style, guy loses his voice every game..hes passionate and obviously get the most out of players that TX and OU seem to overlook..

1. Bill Cowher 2.Jimmy Johnson 3.Jeff Fisher 4.Eric Mangini 5.Jerry Jones ( I'm serious on this too. I think he would know how to run an NFL offense. I think he'd be an improvement over Garrett.).

I'll never understand the Jim Harbaugh fascination. His 49er team rapidly declined after the fluky SB run 5+ years ago and he's 9-9 his last 18 games at Michigan.

I was being sarcastic. He's not leaving Michigan.

I keep wondering who will pull Nick Saban out of college again to have another go in the NFL, I think Jerry has the reach to do that.

But with how things went his final years with the Dolphins, he may not want to step into a situation he feels will have a lot of meddling. He, supposedly, wanted the Giants coaching job.

Right, I know what you mean. I’m not a Garrett lover but I have to say things like “Garrett sucks, but then again look what he has at qb “ haha

I don't see how you get a college coach to leave school and come coach in the NFL unless that is their dream.

If they have any success in college they get paid so much more, they don't have to deal with adult NFL players that don't bow down to them everyday, and they can stock pile as much talent as they want at big schools.

I haven't paid enough attention to Rileys offense to know if his scheme is a fit for the NFL but it would be a head scratcher to me if he left that job.

Also, I think if Jerry has to pay Jason to sit at home and eat potato chips because he still has to pay out his contract then he will go for a complete dumpster dive and pay someone next to nothing and just sell us hope.

Like I was telling Furboy earlier, I love Patterson. Love his style, his loyalty, does things the right way. But these nfl guys aren’t letting GP get in their face like the kids do. Even though he has toned down his on field blowups on players since joining the big 12, prob for recruiting reasons.) He will go down as one of the best college football coaches and mentors when it’s all said and done and college football needs all those they can get.

Plus he is a control freak, he runs tcu. He couldn’t work for somebody
