My worst nightmare going into the playoffs (Spoiler: Lucky)

The playoffs are a completely different beast. Most likely we'll be in a close game where every posession counts. Lucky Whitehead is a guy that has fumbled the ball plenty of times in his two year career, and still seems to hold the ball away from his body when in traffic, so not exactly the type to learn from his mistakes it seems.

The Niners in the Harbaugh years in the end only had three or four chances at the Super Bowl, and one of those chances was ruined by their punt returner who fumbled twice, once in OT,

Against guys like Rodgers, Ryan & Wilson, the offence will have to keep scoring points on most of their drives. Losing one of these punts going the other way could kill this team. I wish we could have addressed it during the season, but at this point I'd much rather have Beasley fair catch the ball every time then risk Lucky with the ball. He's a mistake waiting to happen. Plus maybe we won't lose 10 yards every time with a holding or block in the back penalty.

Thoughts?

Turnovers can and will spoil the playoffs for any team. The Cowboys are no different. I expect to see lots of Cole Beazley returning punts. And lots of fair catches.

Lucky is indeed an accident waiting to happen...he runs scattered all over the place leaving him vulnerable for the ball to either be stripped or nailed hard enough for the ball to be knocked out.

Just get down when there is nothing there and quit risking a turnover fighting for another half yard.

We need Run Dmc returning kicks.

didnt Beasley have a fumble just before they pulled him off returns? Dont think this is the time to start playing conservatively and making switches.
If this team plays like they have all year I really think we will be ok.

Ive said it a hundreds times since last year. We miss the hell out of Dywane Harris. He was a difference maker in field position. Our whole philosophy is to methodically and patiently march down the field. Imagine the difference and how many less penalties and mistakes would take place over the coarse of a season with the extra field position Harris provided.

And yet he fumbles just as often as lucky
He also avg a couple yards per punt return less than lucky and about one yard more per kick return

Lol in the spirit of the zone Id love to argue my point but honestly good on you because Im a little shocked to compare them side by side and see this. Why I wonder do my eyes tell me Lucky isnt half the player Harris is?

Harris is much better as a kick off tackler. So he's the special teams total package, fumbles aside

Yes and Lucky having not returned one for a td (ever) or broken a kick or punt return for 40+ yds this season fails in comparison to Harris who is a probowler this year. Harris also has 7 over 40 in that same time including a 100 yarder and one for 80. Although the avgs dont show it Harris is a more consistently explosive player. I was really hopeful Lucky was going to develop but after this season Im not sure. Fumbles are pretty close, Lucky has less attempts so that could go either way more fumbles or more opportunities to bust one. For sure though I used to feel optimistic when Harris was back there, at this point with Lucky I really just hope he doesnt screw up.

You guys are playing scared. Get that mentality out of here that something is always about to go wrong and let's attack! You put the guy back there that has the best chance of going to the house and tell him to protect the ball before he trots out there.
