MySa Blog: Choice wouldn't mind trade

What's wrong with his statement ? I think he's dead on.

You line up Choice in an I formation with a fullback in front him and he turns into, at the very least, the next Thomas Jones, maybe even a 1,500 yards RB.

I wouldn't draft a guard that high...

and what you think that the Steelers at 18 don't take him - they are my worst night mare right now - give T Choice an our draft pick to SF we get thier no 17 pick

I take the card and run to the podium

No guard has had the same upside since, you guessed it, Steve Hutchinson in 2001. Hutchinson was drafted No. 17 overall, Iupati could be had at No. 14.
Both are very comparable to when they were drafted. Hutchinson listed at 6' 5" and 315 lbs. in 2001. Iupati is 6' 6" and 330 lbs.

Mike Iupati/OL/Idaho: Iupati's physical tests were not overly impressive, running the 40 in the 5.3 range and completing only 27 reps on the bench. Yet once the offensive line drills started, Iupati looked terrific. He was athletic and explosive, displaying good movement skills -- besides footwork -- in pass protection drills. Iupati continues to move up draft boards

He should not be talking like this. And I still think he is the third back here for a reason, he just is not as good as barber or felix..

At this point of their respective careers, he's absolutely BETTER than Barber. No ifs or buts about it. MBIII reckless running style, which we all love him for it, has caught up to him. At best, Marion in a short yardage back right now, but even there he's not exactly what you want because he's not huge.

He's had a great career but it's been downhill for him starting last season, and his body is not going to allow him to get better.

Maybe this article will make some of the dreamers on here that like to post how choice would be happy sharing carries realize that he isnt that type of player. I have been saying for a while now that choice will leave when his contract is up if we dont trade him. Something has to give. You cant expect to have 3 rb's that all think they should be starting.

Was what he said wrong?

For the cowboys i say no. At least it shows the organization that he is upset to the point that he is signing off on a trade that has happened yet. Im sure he has complained plenty to wade garrett and jerry. Im sure its not a suprise to them that he is upset. The man carried the ball 60 times last season and many of those were from a stupid formation. How can the fans really know if he is so great that we should cut or trade barber for? I put the faith in the coaches here. They know what we have. If they feel he is a starter then he will start. But i just dont see dallas cutting MB and making choice the feature back that he wants to be. Time will tell if he really was a star. Because he wont just sit here and wait for his turn.

Forget trading Choice to move up in the draft, I'm trading him for Demeco Ryans or, or..<peruses restricted free agent list>

Still can't wait for mock draft w/ trades threads.

BS that he is the best all around back we have.........

He IS the best all around back in terms of offense. He can run, he can catch, and he can break the big plays. Felix is an explosive cat who can get you 60 yards on any given play, but he's not a workhorse. In order to get those 60 yards plays, he cannot carry the ball 25-30 times a game.

Choice won't get you the 60 yards play on any play, but he'll get you 60 yards on 10 tough carries and he gets stronger as the game goes on ( which is one of the barometers for a good running back )

About the only thing that I can think of that's holding Choice back in his pass protection.

How do you know so much about our 3rd rb that only had 60 carries last year total? You sound like you are talking about emmitt smith. Please tell me this isnt based on 1 or 2 games he played a long time ago that we lost........
I'm curious how you know more than the coaches that work with him everyday for the last few years?
Was it what you saw from him running the wildcat?

Because apparently you weren't paying attention the year before last when he rushed for 472 yards on merely 92 attempts, including a couple of starts at the most.

Or apparently you were getting some refreshments when, during his 349 yards on 64 carries, in mostly bread crum duties, he scored one of the most important TDs of the season against KC.

I'm curious how you know more than the coaches that work with him everyday for the last few years? Was it what you saw from him running the wildcat?

You mean the same coaches who kept Miles Austin on the bench until they had no other choice but to start him and would have NEVER found out what he could do if RW hadn't gotten injured ?

I will agree with you - but we can get a RB like every body says
RB's are dime a dozen

trade him while he still has value

let him play somewhere else - like say SF

we can draft another RB

as usual garrett gets owned again, this time by choice.

i cant real blame him, i understand his frustration. i would rather us part with barber before choice

Why would SF want Choice when they have one of the best already ?

But I digress.

I know the latest fad in public opinion is " RBs are dime a dozen ". Well, I have a few questions for the public:

If RBs are dime a dozen, why draft them in the 1st round ? Why would team trade for them at all ? Why draft Felix Jones in the 1st round ?

See, it's not a simple as that. Yes, potentially speaking, RBs is a very draftable possition in just about every round there is in the draft. The evidence is obvious. HOWEVER, there's a difference between drafting a RB and finding a RB who can play. That's not as easy to do.

The Cowboys are very fortunate to have drafted 3 RBs over the past decade years who can play ( actually 4, if you consider Julius Jones ). But they need to be careful because in the NFL when you think you're on top, the next play can show you're not.

Trade Choice ? Ok, if the offer is good enough ( and I'm talking about a #1 pick, preferably somewhere from the mid teens to the mid twenties ) it's worth looking into it. However, if it's not that price, then no. All the Cowboys will be doing, in trading Choice, is taking a shot at the dart board in finding his replacement, because they will have to find one. Marion is just about done and Felix is not a 300 carries a year back.

So unless it's a Godfather offer, I'd rather keep Choice and try my darnest to find him more carries.

Why would SF want Choice when they have one of the best already

well why is it in almost every mock they SF picking CJ Spiller

Jason Garrett is still garbage if I ever saw it. Lol @ him ever being a teams head coach.

:laugh2: we ran the same play everytime out of the wildcat. I bet the only audible to call was a timeout.

All joking aside... As I stated earlier, this was also my suspicion.

Totally with ya man.

I respect the heck out of the kid, and I even understand his hopes and dreams are on the line. But I wish he had kept this in house.

You guys (you & DC) do have a point. I just see a guy that bleeds football giving an honest answer to what was probably a typical inflammatory question from some mediot. So, in that respect, he does resemble TO. He is true to a fault. That said, He is by far my favorite RB on this team and one of my favorite all around players. I hope the people that need to absorb this see it as simply a player talking the walk that he is about to do in training camp this year. He said nothing defamatory towards his fellow RBs at all. He just wants to play a bigger role in the offense.
Could it have been said in a better forum? Absolutely.
Is he a young fiery RB that just wants to help his team win who got stuck in the headlights of a mediot's hearse? Absolutely.

Understandable.

The guy is REAL and I love that. Sue me.

Let me remind everyone what we have.

RBs are a dime a dozen but the true leadership quality that Choice possesses to go along with that talent are indeed not a dime a dozen.
