Ok fair enough about his attitude. That really isn't my beef. I don't care too much about all the leadership rah rah stuff. As Al Davis said, "Just win Baby".If we win the rest will take care of itself.

I just want Romo to stop the Brett Favre Jr. impersonations and protect the football (especially in December and January) and play solid, smart football. If he doesn't start doing that he isn't going to last many more years as the QB of the Cowboys.

I am thrilled we have a young QB with significant upside for the first time in quite awhile.

However, and correct me if I'm wrong because I hardly follow college football at all. But the guy has very little Div I success to point to on his resume that translates well to the NFL.

That leads me to feel that we more likely have the next Drew Henson or Chad Hutchinson on our roster than the next Tony Romo.

Just being honest...

And that is the reality.
If McGee turns out to be a great pick, yay!
But gee, fellas, don't hold your breath on this aggie QB.
This was purely a regional pick by Jerra. He wants to create a buzz, sell tickets and maybe, just maybe a la Kavika, find a diamond in the rought. har-har-har.

I see nothing to lead me to believe that McGee is nothing other than standard camp fodder. And his optimism, like many other fine young players, exceeds his reach.

Romo's going to last many years as the QB of the Cowboys. The coaches aren't as foolish as our fans are, fortunately.

Look at Romo's sacks in Dec the same time you're looking at picks. Last year he was sacked 3 TIMES as often in December as he was in any other month of the season. He threw two fewer touchdowns and two more picks during that stretch than he had at any other point in the season. There might be a correlation there, but I'm not sure exactly what it might be.

McGee is not going to be helping Jerry sell tickets, I'm not even sure why you mentioned that. Whether he drafted him just because he was a regional player, something that he doesn't have a history of doing, that's another story. But McGee is not going to be creating any buzz or selling extra tickets. We will have no problems at all selling out that stadium, none.

And in every draft you look for the diamond in the rough, so I'm really not sure what you're getting at.

The big thing for McGee was his performace at the Combines and personal workouts which started moving him up the boards of teams. There is some unknowns but many of the Pro scouts watching him saw the raw talent he does have wether that can translate into a good pro career is yet to be seen.

I understand and I certainly give him that. Look, I love Romo and want him to win multiple SBs for us. But if you go back and look at his game by game performances in December and January the last 3 years there are some really bad games and you can't just dismiss them as bad OL play. Romo's play and decision making in those games was not good.

The thing that encourages me for this season is it sounds like he has finally realized that protecting the football is important and he can't just throw the ball up for grabs like he did in the Ravens, Steeler and Eagles games. Those ints lose ballgames and the great QBs don't do that consistently. Hopefully he's going to show maturity and improvement in that area this season.
