I think it's diffiuclt to let a player of Owen's talent level go. But if you really look at him over the course of last season, he wasn't nearly as dominant as he had once been. Granted he played part of the year with Johnson/Bollinger at QB, but even without them, he was getting jammed at the line very often.
And I agree, I can't exactly recall which game it was, but Owens was targeted quite a few times, and he produced very little that game. I think Romo started by distributing passes all over the field, but the more he played, the more he began to look for Owens.
People are really hung up on how unproven our WRs are, but they continue to forget that we have a guy whos good for at least 70 catches a year in Witten. Bennett proved to be a good contributer too.
Overall I feel we are a more balanced offense without Owens. Hopefully we get to being a power running, ball controll offense. It would benefit us immensely.
