Okay, I actually posted up this thread on ES and it didn't turn into a joke or a flame war. So, give me 3 players you're excited about for 2006 and why. Here's mine:

Marcus Spears

Was compared to Richard Seymour and Kevin Williams out of college given his size, stats, and 40 time. That stopped once he ran a 40 time in the 5.1 range. But, that was due to him hurting his knee midway through his senior year and gaining some weight. Last year he shed the weight before training camp and then got injured in the first week. That slowed his progress through the first 8 games, but he came on strong in the second half of the season. If he can stay healthy, I think he'll be a big force.

Jason Hatcher

6'6" 290 pounds and ran a 4.82 forty at the combine and just ran a 4.7 time at the mini-camp. Grambling played Washington State last year and the WSU coach said he was the "greatest college D-Lineman I've ever seen." A lot of teams reportedly wanted to trade up to the third round to get him and the Patriots wanted him pretty bad as well. Getting rave reviews so far by every Dallas media member, which is actually rare.

Anthony Fasano

Just because I can't recall a team having two TE's with the blocking and receiving capabilities that Fasano and Witten have and using the 2 TE "Ace Tight" formation as their base set. I'd like to say that they may be doing something revolutionary in the world of football, but for now I'll just say it's unique and should be at the very least interesting to watch.

Honorable Mention:

Mike Vanderjagt

Even if he has an off year, it will still be worlds better than what they had last year.

Demarcus Ware: He did a good job for a rookie considering he was learning a new position, I think he will go into this upcoming season with great understanding of the job and that will allow him to play with more instinct.

Bobby Carpenter: I think he will be able to come in from day 1 and make an impact on this defense. I love his size, speed and nose for the ball and a motor that will not stop.

Chris Canty: I think his injury problems will be behind him and we will see why so many felt he was a steal in last years draft

Ware:
I think he's gonna have a monster season. If what I've read is true and he's up to about 265 and still has his speed and quickness, I look forward to at least 12 sacks outta him.

Julius:
He's shown us sparks and I like what BP said about his work ethic and having something to prove to himself. Hopefully our line can open some holes for him and he stays healthy.

Sklyer Green:
I can't wait to see him back there returning kicks. We finally have someone back there who is a threat. I also look forward to seeing how he gets used in our offense. I think he's gonna be a very exciting player.

Honorable Mention:
TO:
for obvious reasons

I'm excited about these 3 in that I think they have a chance to make a big impact, and that impact can be either positive or negative depending on how they play.

1. Carlos Rogers: Does he take it to the next level this year? If we double the number 1 WR...(and we are facing some of the best in the business next year), teams are going to test and throw at him. How will he respond?

2. Mark Brunell: Silenced alot of critics last year with his smart-decision making (only 10 INTs for the season with 23 TDs) and making do without a legitimate number 2 receiver most of the year. How well does he distribute the ball to the new targets on the Commanders offense? Can his legs stay healthy the whole season? If not, Campbell could have it rough.

3. Robert Johnson: This guy is huge (6'6 280) and I think can serve as an extra offensive lineman/red zone threat when we run our 2 TE sets. He's been at Commanders Park working his *** off and is a coaches player.

Newman- He's progressed quite a bit and I think that his snub from a deserved pro bowl will make him more determined to continue his rise up the ranks of those outside of Dallas consider to be one of the top corners in the NFL.

Bobby Carpenter- Not many were happier that Carp was selected by our beloved Cowboys. I believe he will be the complete package at the SOLB position. He plays with a fire that hasn't been seen in Dallas in quite some time. Just my biased opinion after seeing him play the last several years with OSU.

And Finally.... For better and hopefully not worse..

TO- I really hope that TO has learned from his past mistakes. Ultimately, I'd really like to see him play out the 3 year deal he signed without incident. His playmaking ability on the field is without question, unfortunately there's no denying the chaos that he has left in his wake for the teams he's had as his previous employers.

I've always grown up hating the 49ers, but lately, I feel pity towards them than anything else.

They're scrapped the WCO to go with Norv Turner's Coryell Offense. I'm pulling for Norv to show he still has the skills to be a great OC.

I also want to see LA finish out his career strong. I wish him the best and hope he manhandles the NFC West.

On the same note, I hope Antonio Bryant excels under Norv Turner's tutelage. I hope he grows up and lives up to his promise. I wish we gave him some more time. I really liked him.

These may not be Cowboys, but I feel a strong sentimentality towards these old Cowboys and hope they succeed in their new homes.

I'll say:

Glenn-Will benefit most from the TO arrival.
Henry-Looking forward to having him healthy ALL year.
Carpenter-To shut up all the Lawson jock riders.

Hon. Mention

More than anything else, as far as an element of the game, in 2006 I want to see pressure on the QB from pass rush and blitzes. The 3 players I expect to have some clean shots are...

DeMarcus Ware
Roy Williams
Bobby Carpenter
