I look for a big step to be taken by the 2nd year guys and I think that will greatly benefit Newman

I almost listed Ayodele too. I'm very interested in how he'll do inside in a 3-4. Personally, I think he's much more suited for that than he was outside in a 4-3... and he still did okay as a 4-3 OLB. He just doesn't have the change of direction needed to truly excel at OLB in a 4-3.

However, I think he has the ideal skill-set for 3-4 ILB. He's got the size to stalemate a guard against the run and he will be an exceptionally good blitzer for an ILB, IMO. From his days as a DE in College, he knows how to get after the QB. He and James will be a load in the middle... they should stone more that their share of OL this season. Ayodele is a key acquisition, IMO, and one that is often overlooked by the fans and media when talking about the defense Parcells is building in Dallas.

This year should be fun!

I'm excited about these 3 in that I think they have a chance to make a big impact, and that impact can be either positive or negative depending on how they play.

1. Carlos Rogers: Does he take it to the next level this year? If we double the number 1 WR...(and we are facing some of the best in the business next year), teams are going to test and throw at him. How will he respond?

2. Mark Brunell: Silenced alot of critics last year with his smart-decision making (only 10 INTs for the season with 23 TDs) and making do without a legitimate number 2 receiver most of the year. How well does he distribute the ball to the new targets on the Commanders offense? Can his legs stay healthy the whole season? If not, Campbell could have it rough.

3. Robert Johnson: This guy is huge (6'6 280) and I think can serve as an extra offensive lineman/red zone threat when we run our 2 TE sets. He's been at Commanders Park working his *** off and is a coaches player.

Yesiree....those are the 3 that came to my mind! :suxskins:

1. Anthony Henry - Might have been our defensive MVP before his injury.

2. DeMarcus Ware/Marcus Spears - A full offseason in the team's strength and conditioning will do wonders for these two. I expect a monster season from them both.

3. Marco Rivera - Marco was hurt all last offseason and couldn't lift or work on conditioning. He has always been a warrior and was playing at an All Pro level before the injury. He's been working his *** off and will be a huge upgrade over his performance last year.

witten. w/TO there to take on some coverage it should open him up more. if a side effect of having that stainwad on the team is to open up witten, then maybe it's a good thing (see, i'm already trying to be positive!)

crayton. sue me, i'm a huge fan of the underdog and think this guy has a world of potential i'd love to see if the TO effect works on him also.

mcquistan. so he's big, ugly and looks like he takes his turn playing "squeal like a pig" in deliverance reruns, but we need someone to step up on the OL. granted if he sees time on there it's probably for all the bad reasons, but i'd love to see some hope out of the OL and may as well pick on the new guy.

ware if i fall back onto the side of serious. : ) i may have to get his jersey if he has a good year.

Carpenter, Spears (I think this guy is going to terrorize, esp with all the attention that will be paid to Ware), and Watkins

Okay, I actually posted up this thread on ES and it didn't turn into a joke or a flame war. So, give me 3 players you're excited about for 2006 and why. Here's mine:

Marcus Spears
Spears_Marcus_150.jpg

Was compared to Richard Seymour and Kevin Williams out of college given his size, stats, and 40 time. That stopped once he ran a 40 time in the 5.1 range. But, that was due to him hurting his knee midway through his senior year and gaining some weight. Last year he shed the weight before training camp and then got injured in the first week. That slowed his progress through the first 8 games, but he came on strong in the second half of the season. If he can stay healthy, I think he'll be a big force.

Jason Hatcher

6'6" 290 pounds and ran a 4.82 forty at the combine and just ran a 4.7 time at the mini-camp. Grambling played Washington State last year and the WSU coach said he was the "greatest college D-Lineman I've ever seen." A lot of teams reportedly wanted to trade up to the third round to get him and the Patriots wanted him pretty bad as well. Getting rave reviews so far by every Dallas media member, which is actually rare.

Anthony Fasano

Just because I can't recall a team having two TE's with the blocking and receiving capabilities that Fasano and Witten have and using the 2 TE "Ace Tight" formation as their base set. I'd like to say that they may be doing something revolutionary in the world of football, but for now I'll just say it's unique and should be at the very least interesting to watch.

Honorable Mention:

Mike Vanderjagt

Even if he has an off year, it will still be worlds better than what they had last year.

1. T.O ( seein what crazy dances he does this year lol)
2. mike vanderjagt( finally we got a kicker)
3. JJ (man i hope hes healthy this year)

Bobby Carpenter-Gonna be a dangerous pass rusher with most attention to Ware, and gonna be a good run stuffer too.

Terence Newman-If he can become more of a playmaker with more Int's he will solidify himself the best corner in the league.

Terrell Owens-Even with less production from him will help out everyone on our offense.
