I just hope Dak is more realistic about his worth than those here who seem to think he's a great QB.
Does any of that gnashing of teeth matter if Darren Woodson's assumption is correct and Dak Prescott's worth to the team--a.k.a. Jerry Jones--is based mostly or completely on Prescott's 'IT Factor'? Some people are completely engrossed in their own self-belief interpreting Prescott's skills or deficits as a quarterback that they are dismissing how valuable Jones sees Prescott.

2016 was no dream. Jones' mind was set halfway through a rookie quarterback's initial season in the league. There has not been any strong public declarations from Jones since then to suspect his opinion has changed one iota. The continual oversight of what Jones thinks of Prescott may end up shocking the hell of some people some day. Soon.

Then let another team pay him 20+ million a year. But I don't see that happening. Good starting QBs are paid a lot because of the value to their team. There are at minimum a dozen players on the Cowboys I'd rather not lose over Dak. That's not a player you pay 20+Mil to.
Then what’s your plan at QB?
If you let your QB walk you better have a plan

Jerry has never been one to publicly express doubts about a player or coach, so if he sees Dak as the QB he is, rather than the QB he thought he was going to be, that's probably one of the few things he wouldn't say into a microphone.

I think Jerry's more prone to listen to the people around him who've put the team in a much better salary cap position, and compiled the talent they have.

I love Nate but he's just salty these players are getting so much money they don't have to work for their owners after they retire.

I don't even watch the Cowboys, but I hear enough about them.

He is the best the Cowboys got right now and you could do a TON worse. So, you need to sign him, but to a reasonable contract. If he has a high dollar demand. The Cowboys are screwed either way. They either get saddled with a sub-par QB and a high salary, or they have nothing and have to move forward that way.

The same thing Dallas does whenever they lose or switch starting QBs. I see a bigger downside to keeping this QB. Especially if they pay 20+ Mil for a quarterback that is just above backup quality. We need an elite defense and elite players on offense around him in order to win a championship. That's probably not going to happen. There are going to be several FAs next season, many of which are just as good or better than Dak. Use one of them until we can draft for a better one.

Keep in mind this is my opinion provided I see no improvement. Lets see what he does in the playoffs and give him more money on the last year of his contract before a decision is made. But if we get bounced out by Seattle or beat them like 12-7 and get bounced out in the 2nd round with all of the usual problems, this team would have to be nuts to pay this QB big money based on 2016.

Perhaps Woodson included the 'people around him' sharing the 'IT Factor' in his assumption...

There is no way of being absolutely certain but I am almost 100% sure Dallas' front office is not considering this line of action whatsoever.

Prescott has this postseason and all of next season to improve. If that doesn't happen, we'll need a QB.

I'm optimistic and I expect the entire offense to take the next step, but it's silly to hold anyone's comments as gospel if the wins aren't there.

I guess leading your team as QB to the playoffs 2 out of 3 years isn’t worthy. His rookie year, a game short the next year. And winning a weak division a week early in giants 3rd season.

If he is your starting QB then he gets starting QB money or whatever under that you can get him to sign. Otherwise draft or FA another. Don’t waste this talent we have now.
