Most analysts had him as a 1st rounder at the end of the college season.

In game footage I thought it was debatable who had the best burst between him and Dupree.

His combine numbers were not great and he is on the low end weight wise for a 4-3 DE, but I would still take him with the Cowboys pick he he is available.

Not a great athlete but yes I would definitely take him at the end of the second round. He reminds me a lot of Scott Crichton last year, lot of motor and an overachiever.

Depending on how free agency & the early part of the 1st round goes...perhaps a trade down to the earlier 2nd might be the way to go.

While his combine #'s weren't great...he does have some burst, some decent rush moves (especially the stutter step & swim to the inside), and showed some strength in drills during Senior Bowl practices. His body actually looks a bit soft right now (not a lot of muscle definition...softer mid-section), so he's a guy that will definitely benefit from a pro strength & nutrition program. His run defense/POA play would also benefit from the additional good weight & strength. As far as his weight, he's 1-lb. lighter than Lawrence was when they drafted him...and the same height. He also has 33-3/4" arm length.

Also seems like a RKG. He's married & has a child...his work ethic is reportedly strong.

One of the biggest concerns with him is the suddenly big jump in production. But there were some factors cited, such as additional bulk, switching sides, etc...that were among the reasons. And he also carried it over to Senior Bowl week.

I think Dupree, Orchard, & Owa...might be the best fits for the Boys in terms of potentially available edge players.

I rank the three.

1. Dupree
2. OO
3. Orchard

He probably will not be there when we pick in the 2nd but if he is I would do it.

I remember and just looked up Crichton - 16 total snaps last season with a couple of tackles in 2 games he played. It's hard to find good talent I hope we get lucky.

Hard to imagine he will still be there at 60.

Surprisingly, the better pass rusher is most likely available at 60, Hau'oli Kikaha. Kikaha not only out produced Orchard in 2014, his TFL and sacks over last 2 seasons are the best in draft class and it's not even close. I understand the injury concerns but those were 2 seasons ago. Kikaha's burst off the snap, hand fighting (former martial artist and wrestler), scheme versatility, leadership and proven production should be attractive to most teams. That he is NOT a one year wonder or project with potential, that he led the nation in sacks and that he plays every down like his hair is on fire are all traits that Marinelli covets.

I don't understand why many are so down on him. He looks the part of an NFL caliber pass rusher.

Dallas needs as many players it can get, to get after the QB.

I don't think there's any chance of Orchard being there at the end of Round 2. Not with so many teams having pass rush needs and so few available in free agency.

That said, I wouldn't have a problem drafting him at #27, as long as the team wouldn't be counting on him (or any other rookie) to be 'the answer' as a rookie.

Why would Dallas draft another tweener? 10lbs lighter then Lawrence?

He stated he wants to bulk up to 260 lbs for the NFL. Did you bother reading the article?

"Orchard said his new goal is to bulk up to 260 for the NFL. As a former wide receiver, he knows he has the hands to drop into coverage as a 3-4 linebacker. But he’s a pass rusher now."

Yeah just because a player wants to bulk up doesnt mean they can handle the weight. some of you just have to come to terms that he is a OLB in a 3-4 in the nfl

I put him in the same category as Simeon Rice. And he did pretty well in this same style defense.

Rice was listed at 6'4" 259 lbs coming into the draft as an outside linebacker converted to defensive end.

Orchard is listed at 6'3" 250 lbs coming into the draft as a defensive end who may be able to convert to outside linebacker.

Given this team's biggest, most glaring weakness, I don't know how any of us would turn down a guy who had 18.5 sacks last year.
