It also will fill a need of adding a legitimate backup with size for now and have some talent in the pipeline for the future. To me, the Cowboys are paper thin at WR. You have Bryant and Williams and then really nothing to back those players up. Beasley's a slot guy only. Street is marginal.

I wouldn't be against taking a WR in the first round.

I'm all for bpa, but WR is not a glaring need like CB or RB. If a WR was to be the selection at 27, I think one of the top guys would have to fall for them to be a tier above the needs for the team to pick one. If Jalen Strong is the top WR there at 27, and Gordon, Peters and K. Johnson are there as well, I doubt WR is a pick. They are all around the same tier and those others fit a need.

Now if Parker is there and no Gurley, turn the card in. He's likely a tier above everyone else who might be there. I personally would look for these guys as good value.

Agholor in rd 2
Lockett in rd 3-I don't think he's an every down X reciever, but I do think he can play outside
Crowder in rd 4
Conley in rd 5

These guys provide versatility and can atep in as returners on special teams.

Outside of Street being marginal I agree with what you said. We don't know if Street is any good yet to be honest but I've always thought we need at least 1/2 guys if Dez/TWill went down we wouldn't be stuck with no outside WR. I also wouldn't mind someone with that D Jax speed if they could find that.

Drafting a WR in Rounds 1 or 2 would drive me even crazier than the Escobar pick.

T-Will is still under contract through 2016, Beasley's solidified himself as the slot WR, & Dez isn't going anywhere.

The only place for a WR right now is the bench. We don't run 4 WR sets.

If you're worried about an insurance policy that early on, with that logic we should draft a QB instead of a WR.

Devin smith is not an insurance pick.its a pick which is supposed to make our offense a whole lot better and more efficient.good teams played us with a safety shaded to Dez the whole game,if we have a speed threat like Smith then they will think twice about it.saying that i am wary about a 2nd rd pick Wr but i will be ok with it if we trade out of the first and add a extra pick.

Then you are admitting Williams was a bad selection. Devin Smith would be a luxury pick, a pick you make when you do not have incredible holes across your entire defense and of course, you have a passing based offense. Not a good idea.

So 5 RBs out of the 30 official visits......................seems like that is our target in either the first or second round.

Charles Cook looking forward to Friday’s workout with Cowboys

Charles Cook 6-3, 220-pound outside linebacker, will be working out for the Cowboys. He was invited after getting the Cowboys’ attention at Yale’s Pro Day on March 26.

“A week ago I got the call,” he said. “It’s something that kind of came out of nowhere from my perspective.”

they done some home work on RB'S

Stephen Jones has said this is the best RB class that he can remember. I think that might have had an influence on them letting Murray walk whereas if the draft class for RB sucked this year they might have offered Murray more money.

Just a thought.

If they let one of those factors affect the other, that's poor management and I don't think that had a lot of weight in the decision to let Murray walk. You should never sign a player to a bad contract because its harder to replace them that year or any year. The only exception is at QB. If you have a good one, you do whatever you can to keep them. I sincerely hope the Murray decision had nothing to do with the draft, and only had to do with the fact that they didn't value him at that number.

Safe betting would be to add one out of that first group, one out of the second group, and one out of the private workouts to your mock drafts based on their round projections.

I think we go Kevin Johnson in round 1, to be quite honest. I think we'll see if Melvin Gordon slides, and maybe make a trade up in the 2nd.

I think other that that, you can look for the selection to be Abdullah or Coleman. I know Ajayi is touted, but his pass protection is poor. Unless you're considering McFadden as your pass protecting 3rd Down Back. Randle can block pretty good too.

I would be happy in the first round with any of the following: Gurley, Thompson, Johnson, McKinney, Kendricks.

I'm really surprised there are no DT's on the official visit list.

On the surface it is a little concerning, but they have only announced 22/30 official visits. Perhaps they are playing some close to the vest for a change.

Nice gesture by the Cowboys.
He's a local kid who played at Parish Episcopal.
He plays baseball and football.

It wouldn't surprise me someone knows his parents.
Good stuff

Ive always viewed Street as a poor mans Jason Avant. Has good hands, runs good routes but has little suddeness and little physicality after the catch. That doesn't sound very good, and well really it not. But he is someone that can be a somewhat usefull subpackage player in the future
