Mavs/Spurs was a fun welcome back to the NBA.
Hate the really old dudes won(Mavs are just old) but it was a fun watch and glad to have hoops back.

Mavs have to figure out how to use Parsons/Nelson best but Carlisle, no doubt, will.

Has to the NBA's best rivalry at the minute.

Nelson won't be a problem... Parsons on the other hand.... they have to learn to use him.

FYI, the Vucevic vs A Davis matchup last night was pretty good... Davis had 9 blocks..
Vucevic is truly underrated for Orlando... I hated when Philly traded him.

they will figure out parsons and he has enough ability to make that fairly easy as they move forward.
it is a key but it is also almost certain to happen given time.

PG tho is more a key and a question mark. They've got to figure out how to best use that rotation and how to get solid PG ball pressure.
In the past they've even used Matrix in that role.
Nelson has to really defend much better if he is going to hold onto a starting spot and heavy minutes.
So part of that is learning who and what Nelson defends well.

i give you major props for watching NO/ORL. I am not quite that basketball hungry :)
--tho anthony davis is truly special and looks to be a once in a generation defender.

i agree with that... parsons will take time... and ball pressure will be big.

Big blow for OKC last night with Westbrook breaking his hand. Doesn't sound too bad, but having him and KD out will set them back a bit in the West. They'll be fine, but even missing a couple of weeks is going to make it hard for them to get back to a top seed in this conference. Not sure on return timetable for either of them.

Perry Jones can really score. It is the rest of his game that's an issue.

He is a local high school/Baylor kid. Ridiculously skilled.
Worked out a lot with Britney Griner, lol.

OKC is gonna be hurting tho. 4-6 weeks minus two of the 10 best NBA'ers is a tough ask.
Will suck to see OKC in round 1 of the playoffs tho if they finish as a 6-8 seed.

I'm a fan of the Baylor kids. I remember big noise being made about his game coming out of HS...
but once he got to Baylor, his motor was just.... blah, hope he's turned the corner, because he was skilled.

Quincy Miller disappointed also, but I think his knee robbed him......

Corey Jefferson, Pierre Jackson, and Quincy Acy on the other hand... I like watching them cats ball... play inspired.

Klay Thompson got a max deal. He's a great player but it seems like these max deals are being handed out like Halloween candy.

because the new bargaining agreement next year is gonna make max salaries now look like candy...
i believe the league doubled its profits... you see those tv contracts they just signed?.... Thompson's deal is gonna be reasonable to what it would have been if they signed him next year.

Like a lot of these 5 star types they spend all their time in individual skill workouts.
They don't just hit a gym and hoop.
It works but it is weird.

Perry has a great offensive skill game but is not consistent in any other area and thus will reside back on the pine once the big scorers come back.
But if you want to just give him the ball and let him score, he'll be fine.

I LOVED Marcus Smart's game because he was used to being coached by a real coach(not a skill trainer like McKinney).
He was in our gym a few times and it was always for open run.
He actually played/plays the game. --and that's where you learn to play hard and play an all-around game.

JJB addition for Mavs is huge. He is a perfect 3rd PG and change of pace guy. --Shane Larkin with a consistent 3ball.
Carlisle knows him well.

I am not sure Felton ever gets a game for the Mavs.

Cavs look like a physical team. Going to be interesting to see if Kyrie can grow up and play big league ball.

Heat and Rox both 3-0 with quality wins. I like those teams less than most as constituted so going to be interesting to see if they can keep that up.

Lakers are just ... wow. Not sure where htis trade Kobe nonsense comes from.
The dude makes too much money to be traded.

The max deal of the past (KG, Kobe) isn't the max deal of today. These contracts aren't really that bad. It doesn't really handicap a team that much. Klay getting one ensured that Kawhi is going to get one.

It could help them, in a way, because they're going to have fresh legs later in the season, and they're getting guys like PJ some meaningful minutes in the meantime. No matter what seed they get in as (and they WILL get in), they're going to be favored against most teams.

If you take away the San Antonio game Parsons has looked very good so far, if he's gonna keep producing like this he's gonna be worth every penny of that contract. No idea what's going on with the Mavs in the 3rd qtr this year they let Boston back in the game last night after being up as much as 32 points at one point
