People thought this would die down in a day, but it hasn't. The more it gets talked about in the media, the more chance it has to end in suspension.

Im hoping the kid that he pushed over actually presses charges. Not only is punkboy not smart enough to stay out of trouble, but he isn't even smart enough to make a respectful apology to the kid that holds his butt in a sling.

He defines, dumb, entitled, immature athlete.
I see the like button but where's the hate button, cause me no like this post.

I really am starting to hate Drunk Elliott.

I have no space in my heart for fools that don't deserve what they have and don't respect it. I also have no respect for people that cant handle their liquor as obviously Drunky cant.

And if people weren't out looking to start crap with Zeke before, they certainly are now. They know they can push Zeke's buttons.

Luckily, training camp is not too far away, but I expect us to go through all of this yet again next offseason. Whether it escalates we'll have to wait and see.

Two simple questions.

Does Zeke have a substance abuse problem?

Does he have mental issues otherwise?
Looks like he’s just been a Super Jock who’s been allowed to get away with murder so to speak since an early age. Going to be tough to change him now.

I was around athletes who never overcame their invincibility feeling they were above the law.

He loves to party

Has since college

All the red flags are there....... he is immature, too worried about his image(his hair, his half shirt, tattoo of himself) and seems to be an angry drunk

Great RB though..... needs to get right or it will all be over too soon

like Goodell's gonna pass on the chance to sign off on a suspension of any Dallas Cowboys player

maybe Goodell will only drop 2 games on Zeke that he'll appeal and get it reduced to 1 or even cut entirely.

Goodell has no control over drug tests. If a player fails he fails.

A lot of young athletes like to party but they don’t slap around their girls or get into scuffles.

We drafted 2 RB in this draft, the Cowboys typically don't take 2 RBs in a draft class,, one of the historians on this site might know the last time they did.
So sometimes the best answer to a question is what the team does.. @ OP.
Dallas drafted two running backs when they drafted Zeke. Darius Jackson in the sixth.

I look at Elliott and these situations and I ask myself 'where are his parents, his friends, his agent' in all of this? This is a young man that had his Dad move to where he was going to college, get's into trouble while in college and continues to get himself in these situations.

What's his agent doing? He could have eventually gotten endorsements because there was doubt about that DV but he keeps damaging himself and his earning potential. on one hand he jumps into that Salvation Army barrel and agrees to match the fine in a donation, doesn't get fined and matches it anyway and then he pays for that young man's funeral and he was video'd playing with kids as a rookie at camp.

This guy is not a bad actor, he might have a drinking problem and be a little spotlight spoiled but he needs someone to help him make better decisions. He needs to get out of that spotlight and understand how to better protect himself form these situations which is best avoided by not putting himself at risk.

Maybe there are people behind the scenes working with him but if there's one team that a guy like Zeke needs to be extra careful in it is this one, which is why I didn't want Manziel. It might not be fair but if you are a Cowboys star, you need to hide a lot. And unfortunately, some really like to see a Cowboys star fall from the sky.
I have to agree with you and, for all we know, maybe his "inner circle" is doing everything they can to help Zeke. Whether they are or not, Zeke is an adult, albeit immature, and by most measures, reasonably intelligent.

My personal take is that Zeke's inner circle has acted like the so-called lawnmower parents mowing down all the obstacles in his path to point that Zeke may well think he is untouchable.

It was time to grow up a few years ago! You would think he would've learned a lesson when the league dropped the hammer. This doesn't bode well for him since he's already in the cross hairs. Doesn't seem like he knows how to make a smart decision?

And if Booger, or whomever, deems Pacman and Bryant need keepers, why not Elliott? Even without an extension, they still have money invested in him and run their offense through him. They are vulnerable to his poor decisions.

Think a keeper is going to let him wander around drunk at 3am? The hitch in this is that he might not be willing to mind his keeper and I don't think Booger is strong enough to play hard ball with him. He is not willing to do whatever is necessary to keep this kid in line, up to benching him a game for not keeping his end of the deal. And that's what it would be if I were the GM. Here are the rules of continued employment, obey or ride out.

This is another really inconvenient fact of life for us.

Zeke is going to do this stuff until he is suspended the max time.

I think there is something wrong with him mentally.

It's one thing to make mistakes because you are young..

but this is has been going on since college.

he runs with the wrong people..

he does not learn from his mistakes.

He likes to be the center of attention always.

I can not see how the Cowboys make him the highest paid player at his position.

Rediculosis pervades! When did Goodell start working for NBC sports. Must have missed that one. Not a single report on mother site NFL.com confirming any of this bull crap

No, he wants to be out in the public, he doesn't get it that Cowboys do their partying behind closed doors, like the white house. Hell, didn't he see "North Dallas Forty"?

That ex Chief of Detectives for Dallas that I knew told me that most of the Cowboys learned fast to go to these private parties and not get out in the public because that's nothing but trouble waiting to happen. Dorsett just happened to be at a bar when a bartender got slugged and the rumor mill had him doing it. The Dallas cops would take care of some of the players when they'd had too much but there was even a limit to that because of all of the witnesses and there were no camera phones back then.

With Elliott and this alcohol issue, it's just a matter of time before he gets popped for a DUI because he thinks he's bulletproof. The only thing worse than young and dumb is young, dumb and rich.

Not only that, Florio had to inform Simms that the NFL hadn't announced anything after he went off on them. Hell, the NFL hasn't said anything and we've already got a thread about being without him for this season. NBC ain't the only nuts.
