Neal Officially Called Up

I would have preferred a bigger defensive tackle in that spot. I hope they're right.

Well, I'm guessing the fat guy just signed to the PS is bigger but I'd rather give Neal a shot first.

If this kid turns what he did in the preseason into the regular season our dline can be one of the best

Wouldn't it be something if he turned into a poor man's Aaron Donald??

.

Looking like Irving-Neal at 3 and Collins-Ash at 1.
Collins doing well at 1-tech, but I dont want him playing there beyond this year. Cowboys are backed into a corner now and have to live with it, but beyond the draft it has to finally be fixed.
Plenty of players who fit the bill in this draft (but we all know who I want).
Collins amd Irving rotating at the 3, is just plain nasty !

Why not just have D-Law and Irving play DE, put Collins at 3DT and get a big 1DT?

Because Irving is proving to be a mis-match inside.
He's not big enough to be a nose tackle, but a rotational 3-tech, and inside on the 3 man front is perfect for him.
We still need a 1-tech, but Collins and Irving at the 3 is trouble for anyone.
Was just looking up both 3-techs and 1-techs coming out this year, there are 3-4 really good players and depth goes about 10 deep in the first 100 players projected.
Just gotta get the F.O. to pull the trigger.

Well, Irving has been the better 3-tech so far this season, and that inside pressure is one of the keys to this defense. Collins was clogging up the works a lot but not getting a lot of pressure at 3-tech, and having his quickness at 1-tech has kept blockers from being able to single-block the nose and double Irving at 3-tech.

I'm all for this combination remaining intact unless we get a monster 1-tech in the draft. Collins can easily be the Booger McFarland to Irving's Sapp.

I'm a bit surprised they waited this long to call Neal up from the PS. He would've been the first one I went to, well before "fatty" Vellano.

Mmm... his name makes me hungry for some good pasta.
