I turned to the show during the middle of the panel's conversation concerning, I believe, needed changes for teams they felt had to improve in the future. It was at this point that I caught Bill Cowher's comments on Dallas. If I'm correct, Cowher stated that with the number of healthy offensive players coming back in '09 with Jason Witten, Marion Barber, Felix Jones, etc., Terrell Owens was expendable in that mix. He also stated that (not a quote), "It would be better for Dallas not to bring back Owens since it isn't necessary for the team/offense to please one particular player with that many weapons". Did anyone else catch that discussion?

There's a ;little thing called the salary cap that makes cutting TO stupid.

Surely he isn't that stupid.

He could be stupid. Did you see/hear the discussion?

Forget the cap. As long as Jerry Jones is the Cowboys owner, T.O. isn't going anywhere. Jerry LOVES attention and T.O. brings tons of that every season reguardless of how well or poor he is playing.

Did anyone reading this thread catch the CBS Pregame Show? Anyone..?

I missed it but, maybe it was Cowher's plug to Jerry. Get rid of TO and I'll be your next coach. Of course Jerry might not want him anyway.

Yeah, Cowher is a real idiot. What does he know about football?

If he said to cut TO and accelerate the cap hit, then I would agree...

If you wait a few hours or maybe even tomorrow, Barry Horn from DMN may blog all the pre-game discussions. I'll keep trolling his blog to see if he does.

I think TO needs to stay and if that stops washed-up, recycled old Cowher coming in and coaching then I REALLY want TO to stay...

No doubt, he needs to stay. Dude is a beast when we get him the ball..

I am a T.O. fan when he's on the field playing.
I also feel that T.O. needs to realize Cowher is right. He is not indispensible.
But, going from T.O. to RW seems like a big dropoff.

RW up until now has shown nothing. And just a month here and he's pouty.
I've had enough of pouty players. Especially those whol are not playing at a high level.

No just a fan who realizes that recycling old Super Bowl coaches never works...

The salary cap hit aside, I for the life of me, don't get the whole idea of getting rid of T.O. Ever since his arrival, it's the automatic, knee-jerk reactionary default position for anyone not going "ga-ga" over the Cowboys efforts.
The guys never committed a crime, leads a clean life, stays in great shape year round, is uber-aggressive, and wants to win so badly that it gets him in trouble with his mouth from time-to-time.
His tenure in Dallas, with regard to the predicted controversies and "team wrecker" stuff; nothing of the sort. The comments that have gotten him lambasted are comments said EVERY WEEK in locker rooms and on practice fields across the NFL. His reputation precedes him of course. So maybe his "sin" is going outside the locker room with his opinions. But even then, it's been minimal. Certainly NOTHING compared to what happened in San Fran and in Philly.
He hasn't brought anything to this team but good, if not great! There's been no "down-side" that I can see or speak to.
If anyone here, or Bill Cowher or Jimmy Johnson or that idiot on MNF can give me an example of when/where T.O. has been a problem, disruption or "sand in the machinery", I'd appreciate some evidence.
'Till then, I say he stays in Dallas until his playing days are over..........

Maybe it hasn't yet, doesn't mean it never will but what the Cowboys are currently doing isn't working either.

Now watch'em go and win today and then win a playoff game next week! Maybe I'll be glad I said this!:D
