As much as I don't like it since it will keep Philadelphia even with us (if we win), we need the Eagles to put the Giants two games behind us because New York holds the tiebreaker over us.

Although it could happen, I don't expect Washington or Carolina to beat New York and Minnesota might not have any reason to play its starters in the season finale, so it would be best for us if the team we beat tops the one we didn't.

Of course, the best thing for us would be to just win the rest of our games, but who expects that to happen? I think the best we can hope for is just one more loss, so we need to get the Giants out of any position to tie with us.

Eagles will beat them for the fourth straight time and third straight time in NY.

Let's hear those cocky chumps talk big this week.

This week, the boogie-man is coming to see them.

Let's see how they like it.

If the Giants were as "mentally tough" as Coughlin says they are, they could get up for an opponent that wasn't named the Dallas Cowboys.

No with a Dallas win Sunday and an Eagles loss I'll feel much better.

You're telling me you want to go into the New Orleans game while New York goes into a game against Washington with the potential to leap-frog us in the standings for the division lead with two games left?

I dont. I want as much distance as possible between us as possible, and Philly to be closer to us.

At this point, I'm not worried about who wins the division, but who makes the playoffs. We don't have an edge over the Giants, so we need them removed from the picture.

Not sure what that would accomplish when the Cowboys will lose to the Chargers and Saints.

Eagles beat the Giants and then play the niners and go to 10-4 while we are 8-6.

We might be better off just hoping the packers lose, and lose often.

The thing you have to look at is we are still a game up on the Giants and we are tied with the Eagles. With a win over the Chargers and a Eagle loss that puts us in sole possession of first. Philly has SanFran at home the following week(a likely win) and the Giants go to Washington(definitely not a gimme) and we go to New Orleans(very tough). Let's say we loss that game at New Orleans that puts us at 9-5 and the Eagles win against San Fran they are 9-5. The Giants need a win at Washington to be 9-5. My point is I would rather be tied for 1st instead of out of 1st place altogether right now. Losing the game yesterday hurt and the Eagles winning against the Falcons B team hurt also but with the hand we are dealt I definitely like the scenario of the Eagles losing to the Giants next week than the other way around. The bottom line more than anything else next week is WE NEED TO WIN AGAINST SAN DIEGO.

Lol at you talking trash FOR the Eagles. Please stop talking, you sound like a loser. The Eagles beating the Giants won't matter since we are going to lose to the Chargers anyway. Then we play the Saints? That's probrably another loss. Giants probrably won't lose again after the Eagles beat them and they have the tiebreaker against us. Game, set, match.

I guess the other side of the coin would be this. If the Eagles lose and are a game back, then we can lose two and still be in position to get in by beating the Eagles in the final game.

If we lose two and tie the Giants at 10-6, then we're out if the Eagles have a better record. Beat the Eagles again and tie at 10-6, then we're in.

Either way, we're at least fortunate that teams in our division vying for a playoff spot have to face each other next week.

For all practical purposes, there are 6 teams in the NFC fighting for 5 remaining spots (NO has already clinched their division so they are in); Minn and Arizona are all but locks to win their divisions. That leaves Dallas (8-4), Philly (8-4), GB (well on way to 8-4...it is 17-0 tonight on MNF) and NY Giants (7-5) fighting for the other 3 spots; we can't win a tiebreaker with either the Giants or the Packers. At 8-4, we need at least 2 more wins to have a reasonable chance at a playoff spot; 3 wins and we are almost certainly in. If we get 2 more wins, the key number to focus on is 7 - we need one of the other 3 teams (Philly, GB or NYG) to have 7 losses. If the Giants lose to Philly, that gives them 6 losses, which means they only have to lose one of their last 3 (@ Wash, Car, @ MInn) to have 7 losses. Since Philly and GB are 8-4, it is harder for them to get to 7 losses, which would be the simplest way in. Of course, we need to focus on beating SD.

Newman and whoever guards Gates better play balls to the wall or its a wrap on Sunday. Anybody who knows a little about football can see that.

It's actually a good question that I've been contemplating.

We play SD at 4:15 and the Eagles Giants game is at 8:30, so we will have a key piece of info before that game.

Yes I think what we do against SD should lead us to one side of the nigh game.

My gut says to pull for the Giants because I don't see them as a huge threat to win 3 or more of their last 4.

The Eagles could win the next 3 leading up to our game.

All hope of having a meaningless finale against the eagles went out the door with the the loss to the Giants.

One way or another we are almost certainly going to have to win that game.

We have control in our matchup with the eagles. We can beat them giving them a loss and taking the tiebreaker. It'd be a two game swing for us. So we can go into the last game down a game to them in the standings and still win the east.

We have no control over the Giants. Assuming we are losing to the Saints( and I don't) we can still lose out the East to the Giants if they win their last 4.

We want the Iggles to win also for the possibility of a 3-way tie. The Giants have a slightly easier schedule than the Cowboys and Eagles, so it's possible the Giants could make those 2 games up even after a loss. However, Dallas would not be beat out by NY if it was a 3 way tie (and Dallas beats Philly & Was).

Let's just beat SD. Let's just start there. We will have our hands full...we'll see what our players are made of this week for sure.

I also think that Dallas needs to worrying about their own games as they still control their own destiny....win their own games and they are in....its a tall order but it can be done....
