Need Eagles to beat Giants next week *Merge*

What the Cowboys really need is to IGNORE the giants vs Eagles game and finish out december this way to win the Division and make the playofs

I'm sure the players are ignoring the Giants-Eagles game. I never understand why people feel the need to mention the players' focus when the fans are talking about playoff scenarios. It's not like we're going to distract them.

It may not be rocket science, but it isn't as cut and dry as you make it seem. I pointed out earlier that a giants win actually puts us in a better position to make the playoffs although not a better position to win the division.

an Eagles win would more than likely take the division away from the giants, but then we would have to go 3-1 while beating philly (assuming they come into week 17 without another loss) to make the playoffs if the Giants win out after the philly game.

Here is where our scenarios differ. You assume the Eagles will slip up somewhere before our game in your scenario. If the Eagles win until we beat them in week 17 and the giants win out after the loss to the Eagles we still do not win the division by going 2-2. In fact we do not make the playoffs at all. we would be 10-6, the giants would be 10-6 and finish ahead of us, and the eagles would finish 11-5 and take the division
leaving us out in the cold.

The only way we make the playoffs in any fashion if the Eagles win Sunday , assuming the giants and eagles continue to win, is if we go 3-1 and beat the eagles. If you believe that the Giants and Eagles will slip up after next weeks game, then my scenario does not matter but i do not feel comfortable in assuming a loss by either team after next week.

Alright this isn't complicated, here's how I see this situation ...

Everyone here wants the Eagles to lose ...don't fight it, it's true and you know it! Hell, I halfway want the Cowboys to win it all myself after all this time. But let's put all that aside and look at who's healthy and who's not.

Cowboys ...I swear you guys were looking stronger than I've seen you look in a very long time. It seems as though the last couple of games you've simmered down a notch. Sure, I know you're not trying to hear that but that's the opponent fan chatter. Miles Austin was getting hotter and hotter by gridiron standards. In fact that's probably why the Roy Williams and Romo chemical/rythmn and timing has faded. anyway ...

Giants ...Starting to pull their socks up and may just beat us this Sunday. If they do, that's the team that may place you into a win or go home scenario in a playoff berth. But the Giants have a Bad taste in their mouth about the possibility of an eagles sweep and may hear footsteps. If they lose ...

Eagles ...are also on a drive and could start to peak if they snatch this away from the Giants. Consider an Eagles win for a moment ... Dallas would be on the radar facing a healthy Westbrook, and a healthy D-Jax; those young players who have Been holding up during their injuries.

This is a scenario that I chomping at the bit to find out. Well for now all I can say is that the Cowboys next game is a must win ...let's see how McNabb, Eli, and Romo holds up.

In some cases that is true, but "everyone" is not accurate. I only care what the Cowboys will do in the final four games of the regular season and don't give a damn about the Giants, Commanders or Eagles (Washington and Philly, that is)... UNLESS we're playing each other. Wait a few weeks and ask me again if I want Philadelphia to lose.

I don't want Philly to lose. you guys are gonna make the playoffs probably by winning the division. Green Bay is also gonna get a wildcard. that leaves Dallas and NYG fighting for a wildcard. If you guys beat NY than they are 1 more loss from being ko'd from playoff contention.

But your scenerio also doesn't include the Vikings or the Saints. It assumes that both teams continue to win out. If the Saints lose once and the Vikings win out, then both teams will have to play through the end of the season. And if the Vikings lose once, and either Dallas, Arizona, or Philly wins their next three games then the Vikings will likely be forced to play their starters in week 17 to ensure a first round bye. So if Philly wins on Sunday night, and they beat the 49ers and the Broncos (both are likely W's) then that would put the pressure on Minn.... or if Arizona wins out vs. S.F., Det, and StL. they own the head to head tie breaker over Minn... again this all forces Minnesota to play their starters vs NY at home. The Giants will not win that game we all know that! So in my mind that is why I want to see Philly win. Because I can see where Minn loses again, or N.O. loses.

Exactly what I've been saying .....Eagles will probably win the Division. That's fine with me. We need to worry about the Giants and Packers. The more they lose the better shot we have.
