1. go to start run
1a. type 'cmd'
(if windows vista/windows 7 just type cmd in 'Search program and files' bar)
2. type ipconfig
3. get your default gateway mine is
http://i330.***BLOCKED***/albums/l406/RealityTVLounge/Clipboard02-1.jpg
192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.6 is also relevant for a future step so save that IP too)
4. Type the default gateway into any web browser address bar. Example load up firefox/IE and type in
http://192.168.1.1
Different routers will have a different base address for router administration. You must use the default gateway.
5. You should be prompted with a username and password screen. Find your make and model of your router in this list:
http://www.phenoelit-us.org/dpl/dpl.html The username and passwords are also on that list. Type the username/password to enter your router settings.
If you are not prompted with a username/password. You need to google the operation manual for your router as I do not know how to help you anymore.
6. Navigate to 'applications and gaming'/'port forwarding' (verbage changes by make/model of your router) in your router firmware.
7. Type the ports you want to forward to whichever local IP you want to grant access to those ports. For example, in the above image, i have 10 computers on the network. My unique network ip is 192.168.1.6. I want to open port 5600 for VNC (an application), therefore I forward port 5600 to ip 192.168.1.6. Whenever someone attempts to connect to my GLOBAL ip address (
http://www.whatismyip.com) and seeks to connect to port 5600 they will be taken to 192.168.1.6:5600.
Hope that helps.
