Need to scare the bejezus out of a cat

I'm furious at my cat. I came home to my nice twin desktop computer set up that lets me KVM between my Kubuntu Linux PC and my Windows 7 one to find it not working. When I pressed my KVM button to switch from one to the other, it no longer worked. Turns out the cat chewed through the cable to the switch button. Obviously I need to buy another KVM. However, what if the cat chews through the new one? I've scolded her before for being under my computer table, but it only works temporarily. Is there some kind of device I could set under there that could sound a loud alarm any time she gets under there? Of course I don't want anything that would injure her. It just needs to detect her presence and sound a loud sound that will scare her so that she learns real consequences for going under the computer table where she's not allowed to be.

As it is she only knows to not go under there if I'm around and then she does what she wants if I'm not there.

I'm pissed. This has happened the week after my car was vandalized when some thug tried to steal it. So I get to pay for that ... now this.

Please don't say to shoot the cat. She's a nice cat, but I've got to find a way to teach her once and for all that she must stay away from my electronic gear.

Similar to Count above I've heard a cup of coffee beans and pipe tobacco seem to repel them. Pulled from website.
3. Cats dislike citrus smells. Scatter orange and lemon peels or spray with citrus-scented spray. You can also scatter citrus-scented pet bedding such as Citrafresh.

4. Coffee grounds and pipe tobacco also work to repel cats. Some people have also suggested lavender oil, lemon grass oil, citronella oil, eucalyptus oil and mustard oil.

5. Spray cat repellent (available at pet supply stores) around the edges of the yard, the top of fences, and on any favorite digging areas or plants. For information call your local animal supply store or PetsMart Corporate Office at 602-580-6100 or visit them on-line at www.petsmart.com.

6. Cover exposed ground in flowerbeds with large attractive river rocks to prevent cats from digging (they have the added benefit of deterring weeds).

Personally kind of scared of em (cats) similar to how some are scared of dogs; too quick flitch or something. :D

Try a product like Bitter Orange on the cabling, maybe, see how that goes. Keep a squirt bottle at hand (though don't aim at your powerstrip, obviously).

Look into some form of cable channel/raceway or wire management product. Amazon, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc all carry them and, depending on the size, you can put several cables in them.

^this and supplement it with a spray bottle with water. Any time the cat goes near an off limits place or does something bad, spray her. Soon the sight of the spray bottle in your hand will be enough.
