This thread shouldn't get messy, but if it does I doubt anyone is going to say that Cason flat out cant play. I do think its legitimate to argue that to take a cb at 22, you would like him to have the prototypical NFL CB speed. Also, I think that if people feel like he would be there at 28, then taking him at 22 would obviously frustrate them.

Again, personally, I wouldnt mind it at all. Or Flowers.

I hope so, I'd really like it if "we" drafted Cason... I don't care with what pick. He's worth the number 22 IMHO.

We are going to draft Brandon Flowers. He isnt on that list, so they must be high on him. I think he is a perfect fit for what wade does on d-fense.

What difference does it make on what CB they take? After watching a few games I had recorded, especially the Patriots game, the Cowboys CB's gave a 10 to 12 yard cusion to any WR they faced. Brady got 10 yards everytime he tossed the ball.

Why pay Newman 60+ million when the scheme takes away his talent? Any stiff could sit 10 yards off the line.

I agree

The boys can get the all time best CB ever, but it won't do much good if they continue to give a 10 yard cushion on every play and don't ever bump them at the line

Like DeAngelo Hall? ;)

Playing corner isn't all about speed but positioning, hip movement, recognizing routes and technique.

It's kind of like receiving skills. If you know how to run your routes and you're good at faking, you can buy the necessary time you need to catch a pass. You may not be able to pull away from defenders, but, so what? How often does that happen anyway?

Besides, Cason is probably about as fast as Quentin Jammer, Chris McAlister, Henry, Charles Woodson, Al Harris, Antrelle Rolle, etc.

And he's a talent corner too.

He's good at #22, and I hope the Cowboys grab him.

IF flowers ran a 4.45 or so he would be the #1 corner by far. I take him over cason anyday he ran a 4.58 but he doesnt play like it. Plays much faster

He'd definitely be getting more love. You aren't, however, giving Cason his due either. Cason won the Thorpe award while in Div.I...Flowers didn't. I like Flowers, but he isn't the player that Cason is IMO.

...and this is coming from a VT fan.

Agree, but if you take a cb in rd 1, many would hope that he does in fact have that 4.3 - 4.4 speed to recover, b/c nobody is perfect. The best CB's will go for jukes/moves, and with the WR speed in the NFL, you hope a CB taken in the 1st rd has the speed to catch up enough to at least have a shot at a pass break up.

But again, I am on record saying I wouldnt mind Cason or Flowers at 22, I just think that there are legitimate arguments to be made that it may be a tad high. Doesn't mean that we shouldnt take them there though.

If we like Cason and/or Flowers and have a low first or high 2nd round grade on them, take them at our pick. Don't screw around try to get cute and pick up some useless 6 or 7th rounder that probably won't make this team. Both these players I like and think they will contribute right away. I maybe in the minority here but personally I think we need to pick up TWO CBs in the first 4 rounds. Our CBs are abit older and have had injuries recently. We also have ZERO depth behind them and last time I checked, it cost $$$ to sign one in the FA. You can never have TOO MANY CBs.

Oh, I wouldn't bank on Pacman either. He's a bonus and that's all he should be.
