Bob Stoops to be next HC after Bill Parcells retires after upcoming season. He was asked a few years back about a NFL job. He replied he would take a TOP level position in Dallas = Head Coach.

Any Thoughts?

When Jerry hired Bill he admitted he was wrong in the past to hire guys without previous NFL Head Coaching experience. As much as I like Stoops I don't see it happening.

I have always felt he is at the top of Mr. Jones wish list to succeed BP.....but, it will have to wait.

Not that impressed with Stoops. Ferrentz from Iowa would be better.

Overrated...his brother was the brains of that operation.

I'd rather have a good young, energetic assistant from within the NFL. Someone like a Jim Mora Jr. or Jeff Fisher when they became HC's. We'll just have to see who is available when Parcells retires. But not Stoops.

Yeah because Jimmy Johnson failed so miserably.

I'd like to see a quote where Bob Stoops said what you're saying he said.

I'm not calling you a liar or anything... I just think you may be mistaken. I follow both teams rather closely, and I'm fairly confident Stoops has never gone on record saying he'd take any other head coaching position... Dallas or otherwise.

I thought he said something along the lines that the only other jobs he would ever consider( or considered as good as OU) would be Notre Dame or the Cowboys. Either way I think Stoops is a hell of a coach but his team flat out quit on him against USC and I don't think that would have happened if his brother would have still been there. They were great together. I'm glad he's gone. Lol.

Mike Stoops is building a good program here. I do consider him the better coach and actually Bob does too. Said so when Mike got hired.

Uh, that would be Phase 3................... Jimmy was phase 1, Switzer was phase 2

Jimmy was successful. Switzer, like Stoops at Oklahoma, lived off the players and program someone else had built, but failed when he had to do it himself.

Too much talent at OU to call Stoops a failure just yet I'm afraid. I sure hope you're right though.

It's what he's done with that talent. So far, with his own players, he's been a failure. Might turn out different eventually, cuz they are crazy talented.

Not saying that, but Jerry himself admitted his hand picked puppet brigade of Switzer/Gailey/Campo was the wrong way to go.

Guys, I think you MAY be reading YO MICK wrong. I dont think YOMICK is saying he WANTS Stoops as the next head coach in Dallas. Think he's saying what HE THINKS jerry will do. TWO different things. I myself happen to agree with Mick. Knowing Jerrys track record I think he indeed DOES bring in Stoops.

I think Parcells will be involved in helping Jones find his replacement and if that is the case then I don't expect it to be Stoops.

For some reason I see Stoops not making it in the NFL. I think, like Pete Carroll and Spurrier, he's better at the college level. I go on nothing but raw instinct here, so it's JMO.

Has Ferrentz won a National Championship? Has he been to three of them? Nope!

Give me Stoops all day long.
