So I have been off for 2 months and just started a new job...My Contracts team consist of 3 people (1 boss and 1 co-worker)total...when I start a new job ...I never ask "WHOSE YOUR TEAM" I just assume most are Commander fans.....

Turns out my new boss and my new coworker are both Cowboys Fans.....

My Boss walked in my cube and said..."I seen Dak on your phone, I know your allegiance, make sure you leave at 4 to get home to enjoy the game"

I then asked him "HIS TEAM" and he said YOUR TEAM IS MY TEAM

This new job is turning out to be GREAT.

Moderators please move if i placed this in the wrong section. Thank You

Cool. Next job change, just move to Texas and it won't be a problem. :)

Now that I think about it, Texas should make a law that only Cowboys fan can move here...

I actually live in Dallas and for some reason I have yet to have a boss who is a Cowboys fan. The guy that sits right next to me is a Texans fan, so you can imagine how that conversation tends to go. So to find a co-worker and boss outside of this state that our both Cowboys fans is extremely lucky. Congrats on the new job!

Be thankful that your boss and co-workers are even sports/football fans to begin with. Nothing worse than going into work where no one knows anything about sports in general

I don't know...I'd say it's worse to be around a bunch of people who think they know about football and are also fans of different teams, particularly ones who have won a Super Bowl recently.

Are you watching Last Chance U? Second Season?

In it there is a mom that is a perfect example of the fan I hate. During one of the games she keeps yelling to the players from the sideline that they obviously didn't watch enough tape that week like a lack of focus on the players part has anything to do with watching tape. A fan that knows nothing and acknowledges it is much easier to get along with, imho.

True but I would rather argue with a Philly fan at work than discuss the types of flowers in the Mid-West

It can be a very slow work week during the season with people that thinks sports are barbaric, been there and done that :(

I suppose I would have to experience it to understand your perspective. The Texans fan and I are friends, but at times our conversations can get pretty heated. To be fair, though, he at least knows football. He played in college and the European league back when that was a thing. So, we have pretty good conversations all things considered.

But my last boss was a 49ers fan and while he did play high school football, he really doesn't follow it as closely as I do...to the point that I could tell him more about his current team than he could tell me. At times he would get on my nerves because he constantly used his experience in high school as his badge of knowing what he was talking about...and he really didn't always know what he was talking about...especially when he spouted off opinions about the Cowboys.

You in the wrong place bro. I would sue for it being a toxic workplace, tbh..

What do you do? If you don't mind me asking...

I work in a Call Center; my position is somewhat unique, however, because what I do depends on the time of day, month and needs of the company. Sometimes I work in sales. Sometimes I work in IT. Sometimes I build Power Point presentations for the VP of my office. At the end of the month I do billing and reports. At the beginning of the month I create new reports for the managers to populate. Some day's I do call qualities for agents. And sometimes I do a whole lot of nothing. The latter task is typically followed by contributions on here. I guess you could say I'm the office equivalent of Chido Awuzie or Byron Jones; I'm the utility to guy.

I managed a few call centers, back in the day. One for Lead Dogs and one for... oh ****. Rainmaker! Rainmaker...

I had dudes like you and I would tell almost all of them worth their salt: You shouldn't be here, there is more money to be made elsewhere, but that was different stuff with different peeps.
Sales will always garner big checks, though, to the motivated. I salute you.

Keep on keeping on brother.

It's good that there are different personality types. Some like doing what others would hate.

You should start writing that book that I know you want to write...

Your preaching to the choir, brother.

I know I am worth more. The problem is I have no certification for my IT knowledge and I didn't finish college so I don't have the degree.

But my managers definitely know what they have because like I said every day it's something different for me. I'm one of their top guys on the phone (hence me also doing call quality work); I have IT experience but only because the various companies I've worked for used me in the capacity after hiring me for something completely different; I'm proficient in just about any software made by Microsoft...I'm almost 40, so I have alot of experience in a lot of different things, but when it comes to things hiring managers look for, I'm a tough sale...especially when trying to actually get paid what I'm worth.

I have a phone interview on Monday for an internal position that would be a better use of my talents and pay closer to my value so wish me good luck!
