Mike Evans is not such a great pick now for the Lions. Golden Tate signed, I think they look elsewhere with their first pick.

This draft has trade down written all over it for us.

Jernigan is a very got 4-3 DT but not a fit at the 3 tech in this scheme. If we ran a different scheme I would be all for him. This is why I think chicago will look at Jernigan more than Donald. Chicago is moving away from the Tampa 2 and more to a Seattle denver style 4-3

We need to pick up Melton, if Hatcher is in the 3-4 million range, isn't Melton the same ? Sign him, draft Jernigan in first, to play the 1 tech. Then a Easly/ Sutton type in second or third. Then onto OG etc ....

Who else in this draft is a 3 tech then? Besides Aaron Donald

dudes what you think he can not learn this ITS MOVING OVER LIKE TWO FEET - is he to dumb

TD: I have [Timmy] Jernigan one. I think he's a 3-technique. He's explosive. He's powerful. He can stack and shed and go laterally, and get off blocks. I just think he can do everything at a high level where a lot of these guys can do just some things at a high level. He plays the run well but he's at his best when he's playing the pass and finding the football

“I can play a three-technique, and when it’s a pass situation and you want to go to a three-man front, you can put me on the nose guard right on the zero,” he said. “I can get pressure from the middle. I feel like that’s where my game changes from everyone else.”

Could have more NFL upside as a 3-tech

People throw out the trade down option as if it only takes one to tango.

^I agree with this statement... From reading the boards everybody is trade down happy without even a scenario.

how about this -i am willing to take another uneven trade down like last year if it means we get a extra 3rd rd pick.a 3rd rd this year is like a 2nd rd pick in most years, you get an immediate starter if you select the right guy.

I would love Jernigan, Martin or Donald. All seem very physical and would improve the trenches. I am not so hung up on value as I am on getting more physical. Not sure of the Barr fit. He seems light for DE but yet he does remind me of Jason Taylor.

I don't see many trade down scenarios and if everybody thinks it's such a deep draft a team is going to have to think the world of a player to make a significant jump up the draft.

I just don't understand these "draft experts" putting Jernigan to Dallas. Marinelli skipped on Floyd and Jernigan isn't any better.

How many times does he has to say he likes pass rushing and quick twitch players. Jernigan is not a 1 tech in Marinelli scheme and Marinelli also said he doesn't draft 1 tech in the 1st round.

We aren't going to draft Jernigan

When did he actually say that. I think that idea is supposition turned to urban myth

Marinelli said that last year during the draft. He nixed the Floyd pick because he didn't have pass rush moves and not quick off the line.
Jerry and Stephen said that this offseason.

Also look at Marinelli history. His 3 tech is fast quick off the line. Pass rushers.

Last i checked, Kiffin was the DC last year and it was his statement that nix'd the Floyd pick. And in his history of drafting, someone put a listing up earlier of his draft picks and they aren't all smaller, quick twitch guys. And since when can't Jernnigen not be able to rush the passer? He did it all year. Their is a reason he is ranked that high. I have to ask. Do you have something against us having bigger AND athletic linemen? Jernnigen is a beast and the rueing will be strong this year if we dont take him if we have a chance.

My three DL targets at 16 are obviously Donald, Jernigan and Ealy. Signing someone like Jared Allen or Melton, plus a top flight rookie this line can grow in a rotation with a healthy Bass, Crawford, Selvie, Mincey, Rayford, McClain and Hayden. The younger the depth, the more hungry they are IMO. Plus any mid round picks to give Rod something to coach up would be a plus too.

Do I have something against athletic lineman? Man I'm the biggest Donald fan in this forum. Can't get much more athletic than donald.

Also your wrong. Broaddus said it was Marinelli who nixed the Floyd pick. Said he likes his dline with pass rushing moves and quick twitch. Jernigan is far from a great pass rusher. He isn't the first DT to be rated higher than he belongs. Everyone had floyd as a top 7 pick last year.

Have you watched Jernigan and how slow he is off the line. Sorry man I just don't like him at 16 for this scheme. Now if we were running the Broncos or Seahawks scheme I would be all for him. Jernigan is a 1 tech in this scheme.
