Don't like Jernigan at all. If Donald isn't there at 16 or a great DE, the maybe move back and pick up another 3rd rounder or something. I'd rather have Tuitt and play him at DT than Jernigan. Tuitt is a lot more athletic than Jernigan.

Do I have something against athletic lineman? Man I'm the biggest Donald fan in this forum. Can't get much more athletic than donald.

Also your wrong. Broaddus said it was Marinelli who nixed the Floyd pick. Said he likes his dline with pass rushing moves and quick twitch. Jernigan is far from a great pass rusher. He isn't the first DT to be rated higher than he belongs. Everyone had floyd as a top 7 pick last year.

Have you watched Jernigan and how slow he is off the line. Sorry man I just don't like him at 16 for this scheme. Now if we were running the Broncos or Seahawks scheme I would be all for him. Jernigan is a 1 tech in this scheme.

I watched every game on tv. I live in florida and am an avid FSU fan. I don't know how you measure "twitch" to see if it's quick or not but I did see him consistently crushing the pocket against single and DOUBLE teams. And thats what I want for this defense... someone who can create push from the middle out. Make the qb move every single time.

As far as Donald - I understand he is athletic... re-read the first part of that statement. I specifically stated BIGGER...

Now the truth comes out why you like Jernigan so much.

Jernigan isn't much bigger.
1 inch 10 pounds. Shorter arms and weaker than donald.

Sorry man but you man crush Jernigan isn't a fit.

This Jernigan is viewed as a 34 NT on NFL.com and people think he can play the 3 tech

Jernigan is 6-2 299 pounds with 31 5/8 arms and benched 27 reps

Donald is 6-1 285 pounds with 32 5/8 arms and benched 35 reps

Both played in ACC. Jernigan had a ton better team around him and Donald has much better production.

12 lbs... and you don't think that makes a difference? Especially when you consider that Jernnigen can add 10 lbs and not affect his game. Donald is a smaller build and 10 lbs changes his main asset... speed. Jernnigen is power. And Donald won't be there so... Who's man crush will be crushed?

Why wouldn't he be there. If Jernigan is so much better why would donald get picked before him. We should settle for Jernigan just because donald is taken. I don't have a man crush for donald. He is just a perfect fit for dallas and this scheme unlike Jernigan.

Calm down man. It's ok. Jernigan is a good player but just won't be on dallas. He is not a fit for a 1st round pick. Jerry and Stephen already said you don't draft 1 tech in the 1st round. Sorry.

No donald can play just fine at 290. 12 pounds doesn't mean anything. If it did why wouldn't we just get Nix if all you want is heavy.

If Jernigan played on any other team he would be a 2nd 3rd round pick and you wouldn't care for him. But since your a FSU fan you love him.

Sutton, Easley, and Quarles played the 3 at South carolina. I want Donald but if he isn't there I'm not going to reach and settle on Jernigan. Marinelli, Jerry and Stephen all said you don't take a 1 tech in the 1st. Jernigan is a 1 tech in this scheme

You can kind of gauge how a player is viewed by who is interested in the players. Quarles, for example, is on the Bears' radar.

I'm with you, I'm a big Hageman fan so trading down for extra picks would a huge win in my book. I'm just tired of reading that really talented DT's somehow don't fit our scheme. If Jernigan isn't a 3 tech who else in this draft besides Donald is?

Good question.

Dominique Easley would be a top rated 3-tech if not for the injury.

Jernigan is difficult to evaluate. He seems to have good quickness but is late off the ball more often than not. He's so late off the ball on many plays that it seems intentional. If a DT is playing run first, they will often come off the ball late to avoid getting their shoulders turned and being blocked out of the play.

I think Jernigan could play 3-tech for Marinelli; although, his quickness might be average for a 3-tech whereas it would be elite for a 1-tech.

I was also scratching my head while watching Jernigan. I thought he had horrible snap recognition, but your theory on him playing the run 1st does make some sense. Even if it bad snap recognition is the case I feel like that is something that is very coachable. Its a pure misconception that Jernigan isn't quick though. He's not elite like Donald, but he has plenty of quickness to be a 3 tech.
