If you already have a concussion, it takes an extremely minimal amount of force to make it much worse. So while the hit on the ground didn't look all that bad compared to other hits, the damage was already there and made worse.


There have been studies that show that Rugby players on average have less severe injuries than NFL players. They feel invincible in pads so they hit full force.

I like that we got more intentional grounding calls today. That means there's a switch to more intentional grounding calls to help slow the rate of QBs getting situational concussions.

Umm.. I have a spinal injury and I didn't shake my head. I fell to the ground and grabbed my back as my head bounced off the ground. Tua gave every indication of a head injury.

Not really. If he'd said it was severely damaged, I'd call it hyperbole. But while "brain broken" is an unusual way to put it, it's not totally inaccurate.

Every player who has ever played has complained about artificial turf, how hard it is, concrete base. Most of them say that outside of concussions, they are twice as sore after a game on turf, even their feet and ankles hurt. We’ve seen more concussions from heads hitting the turf than from player collisions, not to mention all the blown out knees.

The only reason turf is so prevalent is because of all the outside events that owners can host that couldn’t happen because real grass wouldn’t hold up to it. Greed is always the foundation of everything the league does.

The new turf, at least on the HS fields around me feel like mattresses compared to real grass or old turf I played on. Running on them feels weird since there is a good bit of give in the fake grass "carpeting". Given I have not been tackled on it but it is weird sensation if you are used running on "hard" surfaces like packed dirt or concrete.

So, a guy goes out and parties hard Saturday night, too much booze and too many women. His legs are all wobbly from his wild night and it is a noon game. He is stumbling around, even falls down a time or two, is that instability? Technically yes. Are they gonna take him out for the rest of the game when he would be fine after sweating out all the booze and getting his strength back by the 3rd quarter? I hope not.

I doubt it. If you are that aware then you're not in a compromised mental state.

If they can immediately get up they can certainly just sit up there as long as they need to figure things out.
