New OC

Kellen Moore...And nobody else. And I seriously think it's been in the works for some time....why?

Doug Nuismeier

Former QB...coaching the TEs. Never made sense unless you were looking down the road to move him to coach the QBs.

Two up-and-comers I like:

Sean Ryan - Texans QB coach
Freddie Kitchens - Browns OC (although they will probably keep him because he's been huge in turning around the team after firing Hue)

^Only problem with bringing in the up-and-comer is that they will be poached to be the HC after just one decent season. If we go with the old guy, I'd be interested in Jim Caldwell. He has the skins on the wall, much more accomplished than Linehan. Might be a guy who can help save Dak. Another thing with Caldwell is that he has his own rolodex of potential assistants that Garrett could bring in. I don't think Garrett has a lot of connections around the league so that's why our offensive staff has been pretty underwhelming during his tenure. A lot of Garrett's offensive staff only coached with him during those few years in Miami so that's all he knows (Linehan, Dooley, Houck).

If they're going to keep someone that is just going to reuse the Garrett offense, then what's the point in firing Linehan? I don't think Garrett has say enough to outvote Jerry if he wants to bring in some high powered OC and no OC of note will come here if they have to use the Garrett playbook. Garrett better move out the way and let the new OC do his thing if he wants to keep on picking up HC checks.

Linehan is gone but I’m not sure who’d want to come in here. Very limited passing offense especially in Redzone with this QB.

Maybe we could use an OC from college ranks?

Hahahahahhahaha.

Garrett "allow" Jerry?

That is hilarious.

Obviously I meant allow Jerry to bring in a new OC with a new offense and stay with the team. Garrett would likely leave if Jerry and Stephen forced a new OC with a new system that he didn’t want on him.

Hahahahahahahaha.

You are on a roll tonight. Killing it!

He would be an even bigger laughing stock that he is now if he didn’t. And what team has ever had a head coach that brought nothing to the defense or the offense? If they want a new offense, then they have to start by firing Garrett and then Linehan. You can’t change the offensive system and keep Garrett as HC.

Gee. Former position coach working at another position. That's a classic training model for a guy working up to coordinator.

He's resume building at this point. Nothing else to see

I think it’s pretty obvious Jerry is gonna make a run at Kliff Kingsbury. He’s the closest thing to Sean McVay out there and he even had a clause in his USC deal if an NFL team comes calling.

Reading USC boards it even appears many of their fans are expecting him to never coach a game there.

this is... interesting. where did you hear that about the clause? I'd put that idea to bed, but am definitely open to obsessing over it all offseason.

You’re thinking like a fan, not like Jerry and Stephen will have to. Of course all of us would love to have a new OC with a different style that fits Dak better but you can’t keep your HC and totally undercut him. If they keep Garrett, the OC will be Garrett approved which means someone from the Norv Turner tree that will run the same offense Garrett knows. If you’re not going to run Garrett’s offense, then why should he be the HC?
You can run Garrett's offense but Linehan doesn't get creative. Just runs the same things over and over

Freddie Kitchen OC
Ken Zampese QB Coach

Both are doing wonders with Baker Mayfield and Clevelands offense is clicking because of it. Kitchens has coached RB's, TE's and QB's and used to be a coach here so there is a history. He's currently the OC in Cleveland as a fresh first timer. Ken Zampese is Ernie's son so there is familiarity there and has the Coryell offensive philosophy to go with the Martz approach that Garrett believes in. His resume is rich in coaching QB's and has experience as an offensive coordinator.

Garrett and his offensive coaches would have to share the same philosophies in which both these coaches do and happen to currently work together. I also believe they will be available as Cleveland will be changing their coaching staff.

If I could get DeFilippo as the QB coach I would take that also but the 2 mentioned above fit together and I feel would help Dak develop and provide a good playbook that Garrett could share confidence in.

I wonder why he took that job so fast
It’s not like he needs the money that bad

Because USC has some of the best talent in college football who has horrible coaching, and if he can turn that offense around it might leverage him for the HC job for one of the most prestigious colleges in college football, or opens up a HC for another power 5 or NFL team.

It was a genius move by him, and him jumping to an be on an NFL team right now mean they have the pieces to be successful where that is not the case in the cupcake Pac 12 with that roster.

Kliff isn't going anywhere this year, but next year who knows.

With that being said Scott Linehan is as good as gone unless something miraculous happens in the playoffs. Adam Gase did a lot with little talent in Miami, and it would be interesting to see what he could do here. My big issue is he seems to not play some of his better talent as much as you'd want although there might be something behind the scenes there with Drake and Parker.

If this happens I'll make Risen look like Patty Positive.

Norval Turner will b your OC, he'll build a offense around Dak.
Plus he's a top play caller. That is the most important part of the gig.

LMAO... Garrett would leave ???? HAHAHA!!
and go where ??? Now that’s funny ...

i think JG is safe but not Scott.

Which would be another failure in management and another victory for JG in Survivor.

Linehan was brought here because of JG, and likely only survived both the offseason and the break because of Garrett. Linehan would be awful enough to fire, but Garrett wouldn't be held responsible for inflicting that awful on the team for so long.

Linehan should have been gone in the last offseason. If Garrett wanted to keep him, that's fine, you can pick your own groceries, but the price of that should have been being held responsible should Linehan not turn himself around.

Yeah Drake has been underutilized since before Gase and I think Parker has missed time injured. But you're right thats something to watch.
