Only problem is, its Newman giving the comment. So, it basically means not much.

Its a compliment all the way around. I've never heard a coach or player say that about someone and it mean that hes just another guy.
Evidently Newman thinks the guy can play.
Would this be Alan Ball or the Cowboy's ballboy?ABQcowboyJR;2025612 said:I really really wanna see more of the Ball kid.

1. Ware is a "must keep" cause he's Romo's opposite on defense.
2. Canty is a keeper & wants Ratliff money which very reasonable.
3. TO in final year & won't be happy if we don't give him new contract before season starts. With Romo entering his 2nd full season, TO could put up best numbers he's ever had -- particularly if we have a better #2 opposite him.
4. MBIII also a major player; hopefully we able re-sign for long contract. If not, assume he must sign tender offer but that means to me he seriously looking for more money and willing go elsewhere.
5. Newman turns 30; hopefully he accepts Trufant money but what happens if we demands Assante money.
6. Would like to keep Hamlin but latest news indicates the two sides are far apart. In any case we'll certainly see quite a bit of change in our secondary in the next 2 or so years including a whole new cast of characters sooner rather then later. Here's hoping that either Watkins or Brown step up at FS; hold breath that Ball can also contribute. We got lucky with undrafted Romo as our QB. Can luck struck a second time and 7th round pick Ball be a better #3 then Reeves?
I agree. I really want to see what Ball can do. Everyone wants more CB's but we've had time to groom him for a year so I hope he can play a substantial role in the secondary.ABQcowboyJR;2025616 said:i see what you did there
I hope he can too. I only hear good things about him; but ill believe it when i see it.The Rawhide Kid;2025620 said:I agree. I really want to see what Ball can do. Everyone wants more CB's but we've had time to groom him for a year so I hope he can play a substantial role in the secondary.

FWST: Cowboys’ Newman says Pacman might not be an easy fit

IRVING -- Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl cornerback Terence Newman could soon be playing alongside talented but troubled Tennessee Titan Pacman Jones.
Newman welcomes the possibility of the Cowboys trading for the fellow cornerback if they can get him cheap, but doesn’t believe everyone in the locker room feels the same way.
"I’m sure it will be mixed emotions," said Newman, who was working out at the team’s Valley Ranch headquarters Thursday. "I’m sure there are people in the locker room that don’t want him here, and I’m positive there are guys that do want him here."
A potential trade with the Titans has stalled somewhat due to compensation. The Cowboys have offered a late-round pick in this year's draft. The Titans want a fourth-round pick this year, a conditional sixth-round pick next year and to be reimbursed for some of the signing bonus money from Jones' rookie deal in 2005. The Cowboys have no intention of paying it and Jones is balking at repaying any money to the Titans.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said a decision on his suspension will be made before training camps begin. Jones’ addition would help address the Cowboys’ depth problems at cornerback after losing Jacques Reeves to Houston and Nate Jones to Miami in free agency.
Jones would likely take over the punt return duties, a job which Newman has handled off and on. After sitting for a year, Newman thinks Jones will have a difficult transition.
"I sat out a month and it took me a while to get back,"’ Newman said. "He sat out a year. It’s not like he’s just going to come in and even be the third corner. He’s going to have to earn it. To me, it’s still going to be tough. With (second-year cornerback) Alan Ball, he’s coming around. He’s going to be a player.
"If they restructure his (Jones) contract, I say 'why not?' if you can get him here for cheap."
Newman said he would offer help to Pacman and steer him in the right direction off the field, but. …
"I ain't going to baby sit him," Newman said. "He’s a grown man. You try to help him stay out of trouble and tell him to do the right things but at the same time we still have our lives to live and he still has his life to live ."

There's a couple of articles in the Daily Zone basically saying that he'd welcome him, but he's not going to babysit him. Plus there's no need for Newman to throw his teammates under the bus.tomson75;2025640 said:The interview I watched on NFL Network yesterday didn't suggest that whatsoever.

You should check out the DC.com article, it was a bit more encompassing than the FWST article and it was posted before the FWST article.Deep_Freeze;2025654 said:Well, I was referring to his endorsement of Ball all of a sudden and this article from like a day or two ago:
So you are telling me he says that, then a few days later he tells us how good Ball is?? Not just a coincidence.
