Newman stinks!!!

Fanbases are full of people who will over-react to things.

Was it a bad play? Clearly.
Was he helped at all by the safety? No.
Was the playcall a bad choice? who knows.
Do we have a CB on the roster who has played better then him this year? No.

As much as some of you may hate him, he is the best CB on our roster this team, and that is even with his banged up ribs/ankles/knee/whatever else he has.

I give him credit for playing through it. Not easy to do. He clearly didn't make the best play on that, but besides that one play he played pretty well.

He's had a few glitches this season, but overall he's been solid. Bad time to get burned, however.

This. He's been dinged, which is becoming more and more worrisome, which has obviously led to some inconsistent play on his part....but anyone that thinks he's anything but a damn good corner when he's healthy is an idiot...or shoveling ****.

He got beat....and this time it hurt pretty damn bad because of the circumstances.....but every corner in this league gets beat (something people here clearly don't understand). Overall, however, he played a pretty good game.

I'm sure this has been brought up....but some of those passes from Brees were nothing short of godlike....and some of the catches were almost as impressive. Hard to face reality in a tough loss like that, and trying to apply reason to what happened can sometimes make someone sound apologetic.....but damn, some of those plays they made were simply amazing. Hard to defend some of the plays their team made last night.

Newman's not going anywhere. No matter how much you plead and cry for it.

He's still the best corner on the team.

I don't think Newman's going anywhere either.. and he is still the best CB on this team until Jenkins proves he can play to what he showed last season again.

However, being the best CB on this team is not saying a whole lot, and while Newman may be pretty good when completely healthy.. he's never completely healthy for more than one or two weeks at a time it seems. Inconsistency has plagued his career. He's not a shutdown corner, at all. He is still a solid guy when healthy though.. lets just pray he can start staying healthy for entire seasons. He's not getting any younger though.

Good grief.

It's not that he got beat, it's HOW he got beat.

Everyone and their dog knew that the Saints had to score a touchdown (NOT setup for a FG) in a very short amount of time.

How do you make an offense chew up the clock? Keep them in front of you at all times. Fundamental football, not brain surgery. It's not like he bit on a double move...the dude ran right by him, and speed, supposedly, is Newman's strength.

To allow a receiver to run right past him on a go route, in that situation, is ridiculous no matter how some of you guys want to sugarcoat it.

coming from a guy, who made a panic butt hurt thread about Romo

get real....put the knife away, all your posts sound like your 1 second away from committing suicide

its football, go outside and get some fresh air, there are women outside of your computer....stop hitting the panic button so much over man, its not a cool look

"Panic, butt hurt thread".. nice lol.

Actually what i did was make a post of my opinion on a particular subject relating to the Cowboys, and included my reasoning for the opinion and made it open for discussion and debate.. because last time i checked that's what a message board is for.

However coming into a thread and declaring that someone makes "panic, butt hurt threads" and saying nothing as you have said in your post.. hmm, idk.

Who sounds like they need some fresh air more? Seems that you're the one crying and butt hurt because you didn't agree with my opinion lol.

I never said people had to agree with me, and i understand why some donn't, but that's why the board is here, to discuss.

You're entire post here sure sounds like you are the butt hurt and suicidal one to me. Just sayin..

Maybe you're just upset because Newman is your boy and you don't like that i and others have said he's not a shut down CB and he's been inconsistent his entire career? I apoligize if that offends you, but you shouldn't take things on here so seriously. Its all just people's opinions.

Very true.. it didn't look like there was any kind of fake by Meachum either.. simply just ran right by him. Did you see the look on Newman's face after? Just hung his head beacuse he knew he messed up bad.

At least he acknowledged it after the game though.. i thought that was good to hear him blame the entire loss on himself, as did Roy.. when clearly it wasn't only his fault or only Roy's fault. It takes a team to win a game, and it takes a team to lose one.

Newman gave up a huge play late in the game after Roy Williams gave them a free shot today. However, don't let the exaggerated agenda driven people fool you about the type of player Newman has been throughout his career.

"Newman is what you'd consider a shut-down corner," one scout said. "Talented player. Long arms. Some say he's still a top five (cornerback). Not real big and physical, but he will go in and cut a guy down."

You sounded stupid and really lacked knowledge with your Romo post, just as you do here. It proves your credibility

Almost as much as homers who continue to defend and make excuse after excuse for poor play. I dont care if he is banged up again or about any other excuses some people come up with. You either make plays or you dont.

This guy hasnt been making plays and he flat out quit in the Tenn game. If your hurt you get off the field you dont go out there and not even bother to chase your man across the field then watch as your team mates make the tackle. He gets paid WAY too much money for the production this team has received from him the last 2 seasons. He is getting pro bowl money, pro bowlers dont get beat by 6 yards late in the game like he did on a simple go route.

Cue Adam to nail the haters with something called statistics, which I assume will show he is a top level corner. Something he has been majority of his career.

Newman's play started to decline late during the 08 season when he started pressing receivers more instead of playing not to get beat. It all started when Santonio Holmes beat him on a deep ball that help lead the Steelers to a big comeback win over the Cowboys in Dec of that year. I've never been a fan of Newman he has terrible ball skills who rarely picks off passes and never developed into the playmaker that made him a top 5 pick.

I dont understand all this hatred for newman. Hes just like our version of champ bailey or darelle revis...at least thats what king jerruh would like us to believe.............

if it makes you feel better, he has more Int's than Trufant, Sammy Davis, Andre Woolfolk and Nnamdi Asomugha (the other cb's in the first that year).

Not really a ballhawking CB draft that year.

The air up in Colorado must have done something to your memory. I've seen Champ Bailey have really bad games and get beaten bad deep.

Newman left the Jacksonville game, when it was out of hand, after he felt severe pain in his rib area. It's documented that he played well in that game up until the point where he pulled up in pain.

Could you take that needle and play? The spot on his ribs where the needle went is documented.

Where was Newman last year?

Oh, yeah.

The Pro Bowl...

Did he earn his money last year?

How many times did he shut down DeSean Jackson last season?

Since you are struggling to get your facts straight, I'll tell you.

3

Does Dallas beat the Eagles three times in 2009 and win the division and the playoff game without his stellar play on Jackson?

NO.

Who was that running to the endzone while shutting down Steve Smith (fourth time) and icing a Monday Night Game last year?

Wow.

A Pro Bowl player making Pro Bowl money...

What a concept?

There are CBs who make just as much money as Newman, and they are not as good of a player.

People saw the play yesterday and have acknowledged it, but that doesn't justify people trying to smear a very good player and hitting him out of bounds with inaccurate opinions like yours.

No.

The Holmes play was a pump fake (out route) and Newman bit on it. Newman caught up to him, but the ball was over thrown and Holmes jumped out there and made a great catch. The other team didn't score, because Dallas had a goal-line stand. They didn't even get any points out of it and won the game on a pick six. Dallas' offense didn't get it done that day, and anyone who actually watched the game and understands football knows that fact.

Newman got aggressive and jumped the out route trying to get that interception that you want to see...

Go root for Asante Samuel. He will get you some picks in zone and give up plenty of plays like the bomb yesterday. Plus, he will miss plenty of tackles in the open field.

What about the Commanders game in Washington that year?

Seattle, Baltimore, S.F., Washington, New York (one of the players of the game; two picks...

Get real.

You are reaching in space for your agenda driven "evidence':..

Once Newman came back healthy, the defense started to dominate, and their pass defense became one of the best in the NFL. There are stats to back this up. There are articles with stats to back this up. It's documented.

By the way, Newman pretty much held the Super Bowl MVP in check that day. That was Holmes' only big play of the game. Holmes only made two plays the entire game, and both were great throws. Holmes dove for both of them.
