You hit the nail on the head. Despite what the average fan and broadcasters will tell you, TNew is our best cover guy. Henry takes alot of chances therefore offenses will challenge him and Aaron Glenn is older so he will be tested to see if he still has it. Newman can play the game and coaches and quarterbacks must know about it.

Naw, buddy, Newman is decent, he's good, not great. He still makes alot of mistakes, alot of mistakes.
He is not better than Henry, no not yet, if ever.

First it's NEWMAN SUX! Now it's he's shutting down people.

People like myself, AdamJT13, and others have been saying for awhile that Newman has been playing really well and outside of 4 games last year (which coincidentally were all nationally televised games), his so called "poor play" was just flat out false.

Another thing, I don't see a lot of passes being completed on either Glenn or Henry.

Now, that may change with Glenn getting beat by Moss, but for the most part they've been fine as well.

I figure in the next 5 games or so we'll get to see whether those passes thrown to Moss were flukes or not.

I like Henry and love what he has brought to our secondary but skill for skill I'll take TNew any day. Newman isn't "great" and I am not professing he is Primetime or anything but he is our best corner in my eyes. He makes errors like all DB's do but pound for pound the kid is nice. His technique has improved so much plus he is a natural athlete. Henry is the best "2nd" corner this team has had since Pup no doubt about that.

Some of the accounts of that press conference said he was speaking in reference to our right cornerback position, opposite Newman.

Aye. We are a bit too static in coverage assigments for my taste. This corner always left. This one on the right side. Newman in the slot.

And when Chris Cooley lines up in the slot? Moss split wide. That was not by accident. And we have got to counter that in a timely fashion.

As for Newman, I think he is and has been playing well. He was a tad inconsistent last season, for whatever reason(s). Hell, check my posting history if you don't believe my stance on Newman. But I have maintained he is a high quality corner in a league that just about handcuffs the position entirely with its rules geared towards more offense and scoring.

As it stands, teams we face aren't so quick to attack #41 outside. And I believe he will only get better. Damn glad we have him.

I dont think he played bad last year, he played average. but its damn near impossible to cover anyone when the other team knows for a fact that dallas couldnt muster any semblance of a pass rush last year. Teams had time for triple, quadruple moves, whatever they wanted last year. This year Newman with what I would say so far is a bit above average pass rush is clearly improved. If he played for hte eagles or some other team with a great pass rush, he would have been in the pro bowl at least once already.

That's how I heard it -- BP did say "He's the best CB we've got" about Henry. But it was following a series of questions about depth behind Newman and how the DBs had improved since last year. It was clear in the PC.

How obvious is it that Newman is our best? In the PC, when Bill said this not a single reporter followed up on the statement. None of them thought he was saying Henry was better then Newman.

I agree with the sentiment about the bandwagon jumping. Newman is the same guy he's always been, although he's a little healthier now with a little less responsibility. I've been pretty consistent in saying that of all the young Corners drafted in the last few years, Newman would still be my pick. Do that draft over again, and I'd still hope the Cowboys take him over Suggs or Leftwich.

I never know what to make of Newman. Sometimes he completely shuts his man down and others they get 10 catches 120 yds on him

His rookie season was fantastic. That's the Newman we're seeing this year.

I'm betting that he keeps it up.
