Yup. Those 80s teams he took to SBs were not teams with a lot of talent, at all. The fact that he took them 3 years in a row, with those rosters puts him in my all time top 2 qbs. If I'm starting a team, I'd take a young Elway all day every day.

& twice on Sundays!!

In my opinion, he revolutionized the game. I know others had been mobile QB's, etc., but with his size, speed & rocket launcher for an arm he set the stage for players who came later. Josh Allen comes to mind due to his size.

You implied that Dak needed that to get to a Super Bowl when he has had that & still hasn't sniffed a conference championship. I'm simply saying there is an ocean between the level those guys played the position and the level Dak plays at. It's not apples to apples. That's the mic drop.
Sure, rounding out a roster has helped put some teams over the top. But there have also been a lot of super talented RB's who never sniffed a SB because they went to the team that didn't have the right QB. QB is the most important position by a mile.

sorry McKwrong, average qbs have rings because of HOF defenses and OLs and a strong run game. AND great qbs(ask Marino) do not have ring because their teams weren't strong enough ie not good enough, D or OL or run game...

Sure every QB needs a full team but Elway was more than capable of carrying a lesser team to lofty heights.

Dak is no Elway but that comment is ridiculous, just like when the niners and Cowboys were ruining the AFC's best offer.. the best team in the NFC was just better by alot....by no means where those Denver teams trash...ridiculous.

Respectfully, go look at the rosters and show me a team in any super bowl with lesser rosters top to bottom. There is one HOFer on those 3 super bowl squads. Elway. A decent QB would have been lucky to win 4 or 5 games with those teams.

Dude dragged the likes of Sammy Winder, Bobby Humphrey, Vance Johnson and Ricky Nattiel to Super Bowls.

Like someone else mentioned, stick Elway on those 80s 49er teams and he'd be right there with Brady for rings.
