I'd give them the Browns pick if they asked nicely. There's not a receiver in this draft that is in Fitzgerald's league.

Dude is only 24 years old.

Assuming it's a top 12 pick, this approaches fair value for Fitzgerald. But I thought he publicly debunked the rumor that he's not happy in AZ?

Roy Williams makes more sense to me, if he really wants to go to Dallas and since Detroit really does have options at WR and could probably use another top-10 pick.

Getting Fergy back and having Tank should cover the NT for a couple years...and we know Rat can play well there. I'd like to see Rat move to LDE and then we have trade options with Spears. I'd pick a big NT in rounds 4 or 5 if we have any concerns left.

Will Ferguson be back next season? Isn't he in the 3rd year of a 3 year deal? At his age, does he get a new contract? Just some quick questions that I had not really thought of until now.

I agree. The Browns pick may not be in the top 5 if they keep winning (could be between 6-10). If that's the case, we wouldn't have a shot at McFadden anyway. I'd be more than happy to trade the Browns #1 for Fitzgerald. What player coming out of next year's draft would be ranked higher than him? At the moment, it's barely a handful at best. Fitzgerald is a young, proven player in the league. He's as close to a "sure thing" than anyone coming out next year.....

trading a number one when you have two for Fitz is a no brainer

Off the top of my head he is here through 2008, and maybe 2009. For some reason I thought he signed a 5 yr. deal. I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

My poor memory got the better of me. Since he is under contract then I withdraw my question.

I'd rather have Roy, too. I think he's quite a bit better than Fitz. In fact, I think Boldin is a better player than Fitz (not that I've seen him *that* much at AZ).

I'd still rather not use a super high pick on a WR, though.

What's Fitz's contract status? With TNew and Romo extensions coming up, along with T.O. after next season, would we be able to afford him?

Fitzgerald is worth Clevelands pick if McFadden isn't on the board and I would gladly trade it for him.

Most trade ideas are just

However... this one sounds pretty interesting. I'd love to give a second for him, but that would never happen, unless we can throw some other players in there (which would be a possibility because there may be some pretty good players that doesn't really fit what Wade Phillips wants or needs).

In any event, if I had to, I probably would trade our #1 and keep Clevelands. Fitz is better than anyone else that we could draft at WR and would be a terrific addition.

Another angle would be to trade back from Clevelands pick (say #7 overall) and drop back to Arizona's pick (say #17 overall) and take Fitz in the meantime. That would give us #17 and Fitz for the #7 overall.

Detroit told us they'd want Demarcus Ware, our #1 pick plus some other players or picks for us to move up to the #2 overall from our pick last year. So, the top 10 requires that kind of player to move up into. I know that there's a big difference from #2 to #7... but I'm just speculating. You get the general idea.

Someone will give a 1st for Larry. He is worth a top 10 pick.

Especially for us since he is a very young and a vet at the same time.

We can wait, he should be a free agent soon. This is his 4th season, and he signed a six year deal. Instead of 08', I'd wait till 2010, and he can replace TO. Even before this rumor I had doubts Arizona would resign both. IMO, next year this team will have a running game that can soften up defenses, so a TO/Fitzgerald combo isn't needed

Detroit must be ****** dumb to think we were going to trade Ware, ******** to even ask. Thats like calling up the Panthers and wanting Peppers pitched in for a trade.......****** dumb to even ask:rolleyes:

That does not guarantee us getting him. Opening him up to FA would allow someone else to really overpay for him. If we trade for him, I'm sure it would also be on the condition that a long-term contract has already been hammered out and avoid an all-out bidding war.....

I'd trade Cleveland's pick in a heartbeat. Even if it were top 5. Seriously, he is young, and unlike the guys in the draft he is proven on an NFL level. He is exactly what you want your first round pick to turn into, right?

I dont know, Peppers has kind of fallen off. He really isnt having a great year. And with his contract year coming up, there is also talk that he doesnt want to be in Charlotte anymore.

Why give up a draft pick for Fitz when all we'd have to give up is some dough for one of FA WR's Bernard Berrian or Bryant Johnson? Both guys have #1 WR potential.

Let's see.....am I going to believe something from PFT as the basis for getting Fitzgerald?

Answer....no. Arizona would be incredibly dumb to let this guy go....and they are not that dumb. I'll believe this when I see it.
