As everyone knows by now Bledsoe won't be back as the backup QB in 2007. So where do we go for some backup help? Chris Sims will be a free agent after the season. Do you think he would sign with Dallas as a backup and is he even worth taking a look at to be the backup QB?

Dallas needs to aquire probably 2 and maybe 3 QB's in the off season with at least 1 of them having some real NFL experience. What direction do we go?

If we are really expecting to make a run, there is no way we go with Baker or a rookie QB as the backup.

You have to find a QB capable of running a similar play selection as Romo. Someone who can move a little.

I would say a player like a Ty Detmer or a Tim Hasselbeck. Maybe Greise, but I expect him to be looking for a starting opportunity.

Another good one would be Marcus Touisasasopo (whatever) from the Raiders. I don't know what his status is contractually.

I guess that would depend on if the Bucs think they found something in Gradkowski. If Parcells sticks around I suppose it wouldn't shock me.

I still think we will draft a QB on day 1. I agree with that because we cannot ever go through a drought like post Aikman. It's been horrible.

If we go the veteran QB route for a backup it wouldn't shock me to see someone like David Garrard brought in, though I think he might want his own starting gig.

A name not to forget (though I hate to utter it) is Jake Plummer who will likely move aside for Cutler in Denver.

If Romo continues to manage the team the way he did last night, I don't see us taking a QB in the early rounds of the draft. It will be a vet to be the back up. Now if he falters then possible trade up.

although it will probably never happen...bledsoe should be able to command this team for a couple of games if romo goes down. I think he would be the best #2 we could find.

Billy Volek will also be available as a veteran back up. Possibly Mark Brunell as well. :D

He won't stick around past the end of this season.

He won't want to go into next season as a #2 guy.

Hos, you grumpy ol' cuss, I have to agree with you again. If Romo continues to play like he did against Carolina, then we can take someone in the 2nd or 3rd. But a vet willing to sit and mentor Romo would be nice. Finding one that can play if needed and still willling to sit will be tough.

I say get draft someone with potential as the backup if Romo continues his good play. If he doesn't, trade up and get a blue chip prospect.

My personal choice would be his idol Favre.

gerrard and sims are not gonna sign on as backups to a young guy. gerrard would be better off with fat albert as he gets hurt alot. more like a volek type. vet with game experiense, young guys want to be starters.i know they like baker but look at romo and see how long it took him to be ready and you will see baker is not ready to be the backup on a good team.

we HAVE to bring in TWO QBs next offseason even if Romo is the dude
1) have to have a decent vet who will agree to play backup
2) have to spend a top draft pick, if not trade up, to get a QB that is groomable to starter. I think we should go after the top pick and get Quinn even if Romo is the dude. He can sit for a few and compete. You can always trade one of them away when you decide and recoup those draft picks you gave up to get him. and we can use the FA money to help the OL (and replace Rivera for the love of all that is good). Even if its not Quinn, Ireland needs to find a first day QB that has REAL potential to be a starter.
