So was Zorn. Leinart is proving he's going to be good.fortdick;1129855 said:Stabler and Young were okay, . . . . . . . for lefties.

1) have to have a decent vet who will agree to play backup
2) have to spend a top draft pick, if not trade up, to get a QB that is groomable to starter. I think we should go after the top pick and get Quinn even if Romo is the dude. He can sit for a few and compete. You can always trade one of them away when you decide and recoup those draft picks you gave up to get him. and we can use the FA money to help the OL (and replace Rivera for the love of all that is good). Even if its not Quinn, Ireland needs to find a first day QB that has REAL potential to be a starter.

I forgot he was a southpaw. Best ball fake along with DeBerg in the business.joseephuss;1129942 said:Boomer Esiason was not too bad. He is better as a studio analyst. I usually don't watch pre-game shows, but I have caught the CBS post game shows. Now that they have JB, that isn't too bad a show to watch.
How much money do you want tied up in the QB position?ghst187;1129807 said:we HAVE to bring in TWO QBs next offseason even if Romo is the dude

Damn, I'd hate to go to war with these guys. They all stink and so far BP is batting about .500 on the offspring of former players. MBIII (thumbs up) Carpenter (thumbs down). And guys like Volek and Garrard are looking for starting gigs. Bleedslow will be gone and that is of his own doing. If Baker is the dude then he needs to be getting coached up now just in case something happens.

Could his time in Houston be up? I think Carr still has the potential to be a good QB, but has just never had the talent/coaching/support around to allow him to develop. He's been too busy avoiding blizters his entire career.
But this is a kid that averages more than 50sacks a season and doesn't complain. He doesn't b*tch to the media about his OLine or his coaches. He just goes out there and tries.
He'd be a solid backup w/ the potential for trade bait.
ghst187;1130179 said:well, we could go into next season with Romo, Baker, and Crayton as the depth chart for the single most important position on the field...
Would you prefer that?
If Romo is the dude and we're committed to him, then we're not going to attract anyone that still thinks they are a starter (Griese, Simms, Plummer....).
I'm not (and I don't think BP will be) comfortable going into next season with a green starter, Baker, and a rookie as the QB depth.
I'm saying we have to bring in two QBs next offseason. I don't know who it will or should be, but preferrably I think we need one vet and one groomable rookie.
How much money should be tied into the QB position? Obviously more than we have spent for the last 10 years. The position has hamstrung us severely for a decade now and I'm ready to see us have some quality options there instead of continuing to gamble on penny stocks.

We need 2 solid veterans and a young development qb for the future. Romo is nice story right now, but the chances of a undrafted free agent qb being the long term answer is pretty slim. Even if he turns out to be pretty decent, we can and should do better.
