First, I'm assuming Romo cuts it and comes in as an established starter...despite his game last night, that is not a guarantee yet...he still has a lot to prove over the rest of the season, but let's assume he is firmly entrenched going into the offseason.

I want to take the GB strategy, draft a QB in some round every year...from time to time you'll find a guy who can develop into a solid backup or future starter. This year we missed on Stanley and someone else...it doesn't hurt to take a shot at a young QB in later rounds or even in the 3rd when you see a guy from a big school with lots of competitive experience.

Then I'd pick up a lower tier veteran to be my backup, not a guy who would actually compete for the starting job...that's a mistake if you are convince Romo is your starter...a young guy can't usually handle the pressure. Even Troy had serious issues with it when he started.

I think John Beck of BYU would make a nice prospect at QB next year. He's throwing at 70% clip right now with 19 TD's, 3 INT's and 8 sacks in 7 games. He's similar in size to Romo at 6-2 216 and has good mobility in the pocket. I'm sure he'll still be on the board for the second day of the draft.

Kartr, I honestly doubt that you are a fan of this team. I have never heard you say anything positive about anything.

Dat Dude, your agenda is clear.

Our backup will most likely come strictly from the draft, as I don't think there are many competent FA QB's coming up that would be happy being a backup.

Matt Schaub, Simms, Plummer, etc. will all want to be starters. I say we draft a QB in the 1st round, take a gamble on a late rounder, and bring in a vet on the downslide of his career to lend Romo some mentorship. Maybe someone like Brunell(blech, I know). This is of course assuming Romo turns out to be a stud, cause if not we are in a world of pain.

You people can all forget about drafting Quinn or Troy Smith. The only way we have a remote shot at either of those guys is if we go 0-9 the rest of the season and trade up for the #1-2 overall pick. It ain't gonna happen.
