Next year's draft

build INSIDE OUT. Strong lines will win MORE games.

I couldn't agree more. I've been saying this for a while now. If you control the LOS everything else falls into place. A dominant OL and DL/front 7 will make everyone look better. If you actually have good skill position players, like we do on offense, you can dominate.

I agree with best OLB/DE and CB as being top priorities.

We also need, but not necessarily at the top:

ILB (Brooking and James need to be replaced or used sparingly). Carter is still raw.
Safety (probably should replace one of Sensi/Elam)
DT

I don't understand this one. I was with you up until this point. We need to draft an ILB because the one we draft next year will be more prepared to play than the one we got during this last draft? Just saying.

I want to see the Cowboys draft a pass rusher, a cornerback, and a center more than anything else.

I know it's early, but what do you look for in next years draft?

I say we get CB if there is a shutdown corner available, otherwise the best OG or center in the first, maybe an OLB opposite Ware in the second. Really, any combination of these, IMHO.

1st Round -- Center

2nd Round -- Defensive Lineman

3rd Round -- Outside Linebacker

4th Round -- Cornerback

5th Round -- Tight End

6th Round -- Defensive Lineman

7th Round -- Inside Linebacker

Need to draft a mean dawg for this team. D. Ware is a great player but we need a mean dawg. Team is soft.
No we don't. We need players on the D that aren't completely incompetent. Someone screaming at them doesn't make them any more talented. In short, we just need better players.

another Pass rusher- either DE or OLB is primary; right after that another CB; then Center and Guard.

Secondary is the biggest glare this team has to address. Newman is long in the tooth and we really don't have a Woodson-type safety we can depend on. The secondary has got to be first, followed by the O-line.

The good news is that several of our areas of need are positions that often slide till later in the first and second rounds...center, guard, safety, nose tackle. Good cornerbacks are often there's in mid-late first. So there should be good choices available in the first two rounds. Maybe defensive line in the first as well.

I'd love to know what the team's internal evaluation is of the two rookie guards and Kowalski. I like what Kowalski has shown, but if the next coming of the Pouncey brothers is sitting there in the first, that'd be tempting.

as the season has gone the priorities have changed and they may change again

as of right now

#1 NT
#2 CB
#3 OC
#4 OLB (if we dont re-sign spencer)
#5 PR/KR
#6 OG
#7 ILB (this is assuming carter pans out)
I think you can forget the NT . There has been no indictation that anyone but J. Ratt will be the NT . Every year this comes up , but it's not happening .

Romo needs protection . He is not able to use the weapons that he has .

On offense, top priority should be resigning Robinson. But a few months after the season, Jerry will tell us that Harris and Ogletree are ready to contribute and are on par or better than Robinson. Folks on here say will start badmouthing Robinson and will start telling us how great Harris and Ogletree will be after a year under Woicek.

We will need a center and at the very least a guard. Whether FA or draft. The DL also needs help, as does the ILB. One safety and a couple of CB. One problem though, is that the Cowboys, for what ever reason are reluctant to play rookies very much, so they will tell us that we need Newman, Bradie James and Alan Ball to come back.:(

Just a question here, how many 1st and 2nd round draft picks do we have starting on our defense?

No reason we shouldn't come away with two corners that can contribute very quickly. If we leave an opening for Ball to make this team, I will cry.

I agree with you, although I might have already cried a bit. Alan Ball and Frank Walker brings to mind some of the DB's from the 2000-2002 teams, when Dave Campo was the coach. Shudderring!!

I was very impressed with Garrett's first draft. I know it's group effort with the Cowboys under Jones, but he's always deferred to his HC and let them shape the draft as I've always seen it.

What impressed me more than the selection of what looks to be quite a few good players (which is obviously always priority #1) is that we selected players whom many of us (especially me) didn't think filled an obvious need.

I wanted to put my foot through the TV on the selctions of Lee and Murray.

But Lee looks promising and nothing need be said about Murray.......

Point is I'm open to most anything.

Know I don't see DL, Offensive skill players or ILB as needs.

I still think interior OL should be priority #1 and #2.

CB #3 and edge rusher #4.

I like trading up, because from a fans prespective you can be sure the team got the player they wanted. So I'd be cool if they traded up to try to hit on another immediate starter/star type guy who fit an immediate need.

I rarely hate on players. The last target for me was Roy. I was so on board with that trade until his contract info got out. 50mil plus with over 25 guaranteed. The 25 mil was the real killer for me.

What a nightmare. It made the Galloway trade look good.

Alan Ball can't play football. I think it's really that simple. I'll give him credit for one really nice play in the 2nd Skins game on what could have been a game losing TD. Key play if you remember it. But I chalk that up to the stopped clock theory. Your out there and targeted for enough plays, you're eventually gonna make one nice one by accident.

I want him and Martellus gone.

We need guys that can cover. A great pass rush only gets you so far anymore QBs today can throw pretty accurate pretty fast. We need fast DBs that can cover. TNew was a good CB in his day, our safeties are decent tacklers but just can't cover at all, Jenkins could be good but he hasn't stepped up enough in his chances already. We need to draft a ton of DBs and hope we can hang on to 4 that can cover. Our front 7 is pretty solid against the run and can get to the QB. If we try and just go with these DBs we will have the same problems next year on defense.
