It's in this paragraph because if a player is standing out of bounds (or any part of him is touching out of bounds) and the ball hits him, then the ball is considered out of bounds.jimnabby;2585787 said:5. When a kickoff goes out of bounds between the goal lines without being touched by the receiving team, the ball belongs to the receivers 30 yards from the spot of the kick or at the out-of-bounds spot unless the ball went out-of-bounds the first time an onside kick was attempted. In this case, the kicking team is penalized five yards and the ball must be kicked again.

I am not saying who is right or wrong as far as the posters on the Zone, we all are entitled to our own opinions. My point is that a play like that NEEDS to be reviewed. For the play to be "unreviewable" is a joke. The refs themselves should be able to asked for a review on a close call like that. The NFL needs to seriously look at changing some of the rules regarding replay this offseasontomson75;2585786 said:Look, I'm over it, but it most certainly does. The ball's rotation CHANGES direction after hitting his left forearm. It's simple physics. I'm not making anything up here.
You are correct on BOTH counts. It did hit him, and by rule, since he was out of bounds when it did, it's dead ball, first and ten, receiving team.Rogah;2585812 said:On the example from this particular game, I am of the opinion that the ball did not hit the Eagle player's fingers on the way down and that it did hit his forearm when his feet were out of bounds. Maybe I am right, maybe I am wrong on that matter. But I assure you my interpretation of the rules is correct.
